    Unofficial Build 380.58

Running alpha2 on N66U and as far as I can decipher from dmesg, I see no issues other than "cfi_cmdset_0002: Disabling erase-suspend-program due to code brokenness" which seems normal according to google. Thanks for compiling guys and love the new "tweaks and hacks" page.

[BUG] 380.57 - Latency issues and packet drop WiFi to WiFi only

As I understand it, it may be known already but to those who aren't aware, the base of the 380x firmware for the 66 devices are 37x binary blobs while Merlin has implemented all the compatible open source code from 380x. But even with 380.57 release, I had no issues wireless issues but of course...

[BUG] 380.57 - Latency issues and packet drop WiFi to WiFi only

N66U, 380.58alpha here and no packet loss with ~30ms ping to my other client, so no issue here. You've tried dis/enabling CTF (cut through forwarding)? Have you tried disabling all other wifi devices but a few so you have less interference? Do you have any wireless keyboards or other wireless...

Bad UI Design Sabotages Security of ASUS SoHo Routers

I'm glad to be reminded of this, it's not something obvious. You'd think if one turns the firewall off, the firewall settings are still enforced that block access from the WAN if the "allow WAN access" button is off. I'm not sure why people are getting offended at the reviewer. I think even...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I ran a few casual tests downloading from a local PC and you're right, even though tx/rx power didn't change much, the download rate got slightly better with higher tx power up until ~100 so the default's pretty good. I don't think the clients are far enough from the router that it makes much...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I'm playing around with the tx "power" adjustments and I go from 200mw to 1mw and I don't see any difference, at least not in the wifi log RSSI or rx/tx rates. The same goes for the standard Merlin firmwares that I've tried. Is that not the correct way to judge wifi strength or has my router...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.57 is now available

Well what did you know? I feel like such an idiot. I could've sworn in all my annoyances of having to fill out the password that I wouldn't have checked that setting but I guess I did at some point. Thanks for all your hard work, Merlin.

Lighttpd web server with PHP support through Entware with RTAC87U [solved

You probably need to enable port forwarding to port 81.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.57 is now available

Does anyone know why one version of Firefox (41) remembers my login password and FF42 and Chrome don't? I get no prompt to remember the password on either of the latter but I think I had it on Firefox. My password is a bit complicated and it's annoying to put it in every time.

    Can't connect to OpenVPN

Try assigning the router's (wifi extender) IP to your VPN policy.

    Fork 380.57 HGG-FINAL

Yes, there was at least a couple router manufacturers that used port knocking for their backd..., I mean firmware upgrade implementation. And yes, using AV meant for Windows binaries means very little on linux-based firmware. With no source, HGG basically has your router by the balls, and...

    Fork 380.57 HGG-FINAL

I'm also curious why this one is almost 8mb's larger than Merlin's. Did he only change the tx and dfs options or did he use a different driver blob? For those not worried, it's trivial to implement code that stores sensitive data and only sends it out when you're sending other data out to look...

    Fork 380.57 HGG-FINAL

I don't get it. Why not just post the source code of your changes? If you're in Romania, who do you have to legally be afraid of for editing source code and uploading it? I highly doubt it's a crime there so why not post the source? That said, we are having to also trust Asus with their binary...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.57 is now available

No issue here on 380.57 on N66U other than the QOS client list having no add/delete icons.

[Preview] 380.57 alpha test builds for all models

I'm guessing DTIM period, beacon interval, and WMM APSD issues. Those can affect client power usage. Source.

[Preview] 380.57 alpha test builds for all models

Ok, so to get this straight, the N66U 380 alpha firmware is a combination of open source from the 380 alpha and the binary blob from previous 37x firmware? I'm sure Asus will keep supporting it as they still sell it, as far as I know and that'd be a bad business decision if not. Merlin, I know...

[Preview] 380.57 alpha test builds for all models

I just bought an N66U a few months ago. If it's not supported anymore, it's back to Shibby Tomato for me, though I haven't tried it on the N66U. Anyone have comments about it?

[Preview] 380.57 alpha test builds for all models

I don't see "per ip" bandwidth monitoring in this firmware for N66U. Is it taken out? Also when I decrease my wireless strength from 100% to 1%, if anything I see a gain in signal. Is this unusual?

Tuning and optimizing for low latency?

Yes, I usually put my main console in the DMZ. But I reinstalled Windows, enabled the router firewall again and play a few games and the weird freezing/spazzing in-game doesn't seem to happen anymore. Maybe it's Windows 10, there's so many things that happen behind the scenes that even Windows 7...

Tuning and optimizing for low latency?

Playing Battlefield 4 or Quake Live, I'd get a stuttering freeze, like I was lagging out but ping was good >50ms usually. It seemed to happen more when I updated to the recent Merlin release but still did it some on John's latest. I haven't had the issue yet but it seems sporadic which makes it...
