[384.8_Alpha - builds] Testing all variants.

Btw, what else did you change/modify after the factory reset? Did you try setting up OpenVPN? Try to list as many details as possible, that can help us find the common setting that I and you did.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.7 is now available

I should admit that I'm in double-NAT. There's only an Asus router behind the ISP router-modem. ISP modem has uPnP enabled since the beginning (3 years ago), and the Asus router has been usually set as DMZ host. As I previously mentioned, with the setup above, uPnP has worked flawlessly from...

[384.8_Alpha - builds] Testing all variants.

This issue has happened since 384.6. I mentioned about this on the 384.7 thread. You can follow there: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/release-asuswrt-merlin-384-7-is-now-available.49194/page-15#post-437936

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.7 is now available

RMerlin: unless uPnP is considered low priority, I hope you can take a look at the issue or suggest some troubleshooting steps so that we can at least get the idea why uPnP suddenly stopped working since 384.6. The issue is easily reproducible. As the screenshots show below: - Connected the...

    $9 Router Cooling (RT-AC68U Example)

Why would you think it get hot? Didn't you read our posts, we all told that those fans reduce the temperature significantly!

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.7 Beta is now available

I set it run on 8080. As I said, the camera would run fine on the firmwares I tried if I set the portforwarding rule manually. - On 384.6 and 384.7b (I have not tried with new stock firmwares maybe from 20308), it couldn't work using uPnP mode. - On 384.5, 384.3, 380.70, 380.66 and corresponding...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.7 Beta is now available

I have an IP Camera (Foscam 8910W) and let it run in uPnP mode to open port. It worked flawlessly with old N66 and AC68U, old firmwares, new firmwares and 384.5 etc... However, on 384.6 and 384.7b, it couldn't work. FYI, I have tried flashing, resetting, rebooting many times. It always worked...

    $9 Router Cooling (RT-AC68U Example)

I was a bit lazy, so after seeing an ad for this fan (yeah thanks to our dear spy Google), I just went out and bought it. Never had experience with these little fans, at first I thought it was weak when testing at the shop. But it did amaze me as it helped drive the CPU temperature from 87°C...

    $9 Router Cooling (RT-AC68U Example)

That's nice. I think I'll try on the router that is now out of warranty  Thanks.

    Instructions to install Johns fork

I think the "YMMV" statement might be true here. I recently got an issue and Asus Tool could not do anything, so I had to cracked open the router to perform a serial flash (even though what all both methods do is basically tftp transloading, right?). And I honestly think the ssh method is not...

    Instructions to install Johns fork

As I mentioned in my previous post, I don't trust Asus Tool for downgrading as they do not have a way to clear the nvram after flashing the firmware (i.e. your newly flashed firmware would have to boot once with the old nvram value). You'd better ssh into the router, upload all necessary files...

    $9 Router Cooling (RT-AC68U Example)

I live in a country with a bit hot weather (28-38°C) and my city is a bit polluted, hence the desire of cooling the router without blowing dust into it. I actually oc'ed the router and currently only OpenVPN is enabled, and the CPU temp is 81-84°C. Don't know if I should revert the OC, as before...

    $9 Router Cooling (RT-AC68U Example)

It's interesting that I suddenly thought of this modding today and did a search and found this old thread, then I went to this last page and saw your comment posted today ;) I'd want to suck the air out, but it seems that more people used the fans to blow cool air into their routers? I wonder...

    Instructions to install Johns fork

From my experience, the best method is to ssh into the router and use the mtd-write command. You can read more in this post of mine.

    AC68U/P Router/Repeater setup

Thanks, Digitald00d. So the better method would still be setting different SSIDs/channels. However, I tried setting mine to same SSID/channel. And just a little time later, the main RTR wireless signals became suddenly very weak. Logged into the RTR and I saw its CPUs got aggressive, spiked up...

    [Recovered!]Upgrading to 384.6 killed my ac68u :(

Well, I decided to buy a Serial-to-USB TTL cable to try the serial flash. I just used the common method "flash -noheader" and... the router booted successfully! :D Things have been normal since. What still confuses me though is "flash -noheader" was basically a tftp method, but why did it work...

    AC68U/P Router/Repeater setup

Hi, would you mind edit your 1st post to clearly explain your setup? I set my REP to be the same SSID with its RTR, but when my Note8 connected to REP it got an exclamation mark (yes, just knew where my phone connected to thanks to that exclamation mark!) From your posts, I think this is your...

    [Recovered!]Upgrading to 384.6 killed my ac68u :(

Actually, OpenWRT was TOTALLY new to me, had some strange restrictions (?) and bugs (spit out random garbage files all over some main directories) , and I also didn't debug with internet cable plugged in so I did not know if OpenWRT would actually work. So I'm on DD-WRT currently. However, I'll...

    [Recovered!]Upgrading to 384.6 killed my ac68u :(

Oh, you're a dev? :) Thought you got back to Merlin successfully and would not do any more tests. Can your tools run on DD-WRT/OpenWRT, and if possible may I ask for a copy? Until now, only DD-WRT/OpenWRT can run on my router. I'm still stuck here, so I'd like to know if there was something...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Trung, you should leave the ISP modem and connect Asus router as an assistant wifi router so that - when the Asus one goes down, you still have wifi from the ISP modem - when the ISP modem goes down, the ISP technicians can just come and replace their modem without having to touch your Asus one.
