    I find Merlin is faster at patching and of course there is OpenVPN etc. which floats my boat so then I guess the same question to you is FIRST WHY do you need Merlin? because if no compelling reason other than to say hey i am using Merlin then why not stick with 386.1 official?

    Ok Thanks. This is good to know about the higher 5Ghz channels I will investigate more on maybe setting the channels manually after looking around the spectrum.

    Using a RP-AC55 is it possible to set which wireless backhaul to use? Right now the device is using 2.4Ghz as backhaul and I would like to set it to use 5Ghz as backhaul understanding that the 5Gz would be shared between front haul and backhaul

    So post day 1, the connection quality will sometimes say Ok and sometimes say Great. It does take a while to settle. As long as it is green, I guess I am ok.

    apologies to forum. I AM able to add the RP-AC55. I had to turn on WPS on the main router to do so. I had WPS for security. So the RP-AC55 is acting now as a Aimesh node. Not sure though about the performance as connection quality is showing as weak and it's quite close to the main router...

    From the research I have done before. I had seen that 1) If mixing Asus Merlin and Asus stock, then ensure that Asus merlin is running on the master Aimesh node. Which I have done at this point I guess the challenge is that the RP-AC55 on the older firmware is AiMesh 1.0 some questions 1)...

    Ooops I can't edit my post. So I attempt to add the RP-AC55 using the AiMesh 2.0 interface. The interface does perform the discovery of Aimesh nodes. It then does show the RP-AC55. Finally I am allowed to select the Rp-AC55 an the percentage wheel of 1% 2% etc. starts to go. Then I end up...

    Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

    AC5300 and AC88U in Aimesh config dirty upgrade from 386.1_beta4 to 386.1 Diversion and Skynet GUI was fine immediately even though CPUs were very active for 5 minutes and then settled back down Performance still the same with 1Gbps fiber. Thank you Eric

    My current setup is a RT-AC5300 and RT-AC88U both running Merlin 386 beta 4 and AiMesh. The AC5300 is tri-band and the 88U is dual-band. If I want to utilize a dedicated 5Ghz backhaul, then is the RT-AC5300 the only currently supported Merlin model with tri-band? Thanks!

    bump and I looked up chipsets. Interesting to me that the AC5300 has less RAM than the 88U AC88U has Broadcom BCM4709C0 AC5300 has BCM4709+BCM4366 (2.4GHz) + 2 x BCM4366 (5GHz)

    Firmware updated but not displayed - how to fix?

    I am thinking I AM running 66_6 just that it is not reflecting properly on the home page. If I click to the administration page, then to the firmware upgrade tab it DOES show firmware 380.66_6
