    Subnetting w/AXE16000 and MoCA

hahah....I have the HW so figured might as well put it to good use. I'll learn something in the process. At one point I had 10 MoCA devices, but doing more research into this, I think I'll be cutting it down to about 4 or 5 MoCA devices. I seriously looked into VLAN, but with my limited...

    Subnetting w/AXE16000 and MoCA

I'm going with the 10.99.xx.xx IP addresses and still using the subnet mask of 255.255.254.0. Based on my understanding, this is a classless network - Class A IP address and Class B subnet. Open to suggestions to improve this further.

    Subnetting w/AXE16000 and MoCA

Thanks for getting back @ColinTaylor Thanks. Changed the IP address to something private. Did a bit more reading up on this! In what use case use should the NAT be turned on/off. Can you please give examples? I thought by having NAT enable on the subnet router, you are double natting, thus...

Help with Moca backhaul - newbie

Thanks @krkaufman, but my subnet routers connected to the main router via MoCA and running in router mode appear to be working fine. Maybe I'm not understanding this, I thought MoCA was used to connect all devices in the same network, but with my setup I am able to connect different networks...

    Subnetting w/AXE16000 and MoCA

I recently read about how subnetting can reduce broadcast traffic in busy networks and improve performance, which is particularly of interest since I have nearly 200 devices. I've noticed that my IoT devices can be slow to respond, possibly due to high latency. Not knowing much about...

Help with Moca backhaul - newbie

@krkaufman, could you explain why it's necessary to have the mesh nodes set up as access points (APs)? What if I want to create subnets? Can each router be configured in router mode with MoCA? I'm currently trying to set this up. I've successfully configured a single subnet router where both...

    AdGuardHome AdGuardHome Blocklists

Hello, so with the Hagezi lists I'm noticing there are now some lists that have the standard DNS AdGuard list and IP list. For example, The Threat Intelligence Feeds list and DoH/VPN/TOR/Proxy Bypass. Although the description says the IP list is to be used in conjunction with the DNS list how do...

    vnStat [Solved] vnstat issue

@dev_null writing to report that your instructions and the additional scripts is working fine. The stats are updating and am not seeing any issues. Will report back if I run into any issues, but as of now all scripts and router is humming along nicely. Thanks.

    vnStat [Solved] vnstat issue

Thanks for looking into this and putting together a mini-script for this @dev_null. Much apprecaited! For the uninitiated, where should this script go? EDIT: I tried to be creative and put sleep 120 & /opt/etc/init.d/S33vnstat start at the end of the services-start file in /jffs/scripts but...

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

@dev_null thanks! I've gone through those threads but no luck. My setup: Router: AXE16K FW: 3004.388.7 Scripts: Skynet, Unbound, AdGuard, dn-vnstat, spdMerlin, scMerlin

    vnStat [Solved] vnstat issue

@dev_null when I saw the output, I also thought the same that the JFFS is read only, but I'm running other scripts like spdMerlin and that is writing the results to JFFS without issue. Oddly enough, dn-vnstat has been running well for me for over 2 years. I only started having problems with it...

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

Hey @elorimer I'm having a similar issue with the stats. I've checked and it appears dn-vnstat runs after reboot, but vnstat is "dead" based on running this command: /opt/etc/init.d/S33vnstat check After starting vnstat using this command: /opt/etc/init.d/S33vnstat start the stats are updating...

    vnStat [Solved] vnstat issue

I'm also having an issue with this script. When I installed it on a new router, it worked - the stats were showing on the GUI etc. After a few reboots, the stats are no longer updating. The GUI only shows stats for about 3 to 5 hours after the installation, after that the stats are no longer...

    Unbound Unbound Config File(s)

Thank you @dave14305 and @SomeWhereOverTheRainBow for explaining.

    YazFi Support AiMesh Yet?

What if you ran the other nodes as APs instead of mesh? Could you then not install YazFi on the APs? You should be able to create different subnets (mirroring your main router) for the guest networks and they would separate devices from your network, right?

    Unbound Unbound Config File(s)

Thanks @dave14305 So, /opt/var/lib/unbound/unbound.config and /opt/share/unbound/configs/user.config should be identical at installation? If changes are made to /opt/var/lib/unbound/unbound.config it should/will not propagate to /opt/share/unbound/configs/user.config? Comparing...

    Unbound Unbound Config File(s)

I couldn't find the answer to this with my searches, so posting the question here. As I understand it, for configuring Unbound, the config file lives here: /opt/var/lib/unbound/unbound.config But I find similar config files at other locations: /opt/etc/unbound/unbound.config...

Disadvantages of Access Points vs, AiMesh

Having difficulty deciding between Mesh vs AP for my use case scenario. I've used Mesh with wired backhaul with AX11000 + XT9s for the past couple of years and as my device count has ballooned to 160+ devices I've noticed quite a bit of lag/delay in my IoT devices and security cameras...

    Diversion Diversion Blocking WiFi

Router uptime is now 1.5 days. No crash, no issues. CPU/Mem/Swap all appear to be humming along nicely. What solved the issue - a simple restart of the router and all the mesh nodes.

    Diversion Diversion Blocking WiFi

@Bogey thanks for the link. After going through that link and several others I have switched over to AdGuard and was able to get Unbound and Skynet to work with it. I am running 2GB swap as well thanks to the insightful articles and explanations by @SomeWhereOverTheRainBow I am still having one...
