USB Tethering Speeds - ASUS RT-AC66U

The download rate is mostly based on your cellular connection. Whether you are connected to the router via 2.4, 5 or wired all those connection types can easily handle the speeds that your cellular connection appears to be providing based on the speed values you mentioned. A good way to check...

moving from AC68P to AC86U ... easy way to move settings?

Yup, setting up from scratch is the way to go. If you were somehow able to use an 'easy button' the first time you experienced any sort of hiccup with the router you would be scratching your head wondering if it was due to the 'easy button' and would be most likely back to setting it up from...

[Experimental] WireGuard for HND platform (4.1.x kernels)

I'm fairly certain the RT models use the same firmware. In the past some GT models if I remember correctly used a different firmware and were not compatible with Asuswrt-Merlin. Edit: And from Asuswrt-Merlin website....the RT-AC2900 (same firmware as RT-AC86U) Edit 2: From the FAQ in the...

spdMerlin spdMerlin - Automated speedtests with graphs

The issues were resolved when Jack switched the script to use the Ookla based test. I see spdmerlin results in the 900+ Mbps range with my 86U.

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

You might have had better luck if you had triple dog dared him :)

    AC1900 USB Power

I have the opposite problem. My Pixel 3a sits at 100%. The ZTE A7 that I got with my Visible sim is a cheap phone with no CA but they included some smarts in the phone so that it will cycle the charging automatically and go between 50% and 80%.

spdMerlin spdMerlin - Automated speedtests with graphs

Not necessarily an answer but I have seen the speedtest results bounce all over the place for no apparent reason depending on what client is used. I'm not sure what router you are using but the 86U is plenty capable of hitting 900+ Mbps using spdMerlin. Take a look at this post if haven't...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

Just a quick comment on Runner being disabled. On my old 68U with Flow Acceleration (what runner was called on the pre HND routers) disabled I was still able to max out my symmetric gigabit fiber connection. So, don't let Runner getting disabled stop you from using any features that you desire...

ASUS RT AC1900 Router w Netgear M1 issues

I just realized that the flash drive I'm using for my scripts is plugged into the USB 2 port and my tether is plugged into the USB 3 port. Should the code be changed to: iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -o usb1 -j TTL --ttl-set 65

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

Are you running plain Qos or Adaptive Qos? I seem to recall that one of them was compatible with NAT acceleration and the other wasn't. And that could have all gone out the door with the new router models based on the HND platform.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

Did you reboot after enabling QoS? In the past with my 68U even though after making a change such as QoS or AiProtection and the router doing what appeared to be a complete restart based on the slow percent count and long time to complete that it still never reset the NAT acceleration settings...

ASUS RT AC1900 Router w Netgear M1 issues

I would like to hijack this thread for a brief minute if I could :) I am looking to do something similar but am using an Android phone tethered via usb. In another thread I believe it was mentioned that I needed to modify the last line to read: iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -o usb0 -j TTL...

    Slow WAN performance 384.15

My old 68U could do 940 Mbps both ways across the WAN with only CTF enabled. As mentioned earlier core 1 of the cpu would be pegged at 100 percent.

Using my phone wifi to provide my AC86U with net access?

I am testing USB tethering with an Android phone right now. Very easy to setup. Hardest part is finding where to enable the USB tethering in the router's GUI. It is on the WAN>Dual WAN page. Change Primary WAN to USB. Probably need a reboot of the router. After the router reboots you'll...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

Hmmm, my 86U on 384.15 seems to have the same version. Or am I missing something? wl0: Oct 9 2019 12:07:03 version 10.10.122.20 (r683106) FWID 01-73fde4c6

spdMerlin spdMerlin - Automated speedtests with graphs

With the new version of spdmerlin that uses the Ookla based test I have no problems hitting 900+ Mbps.

Has the Firmware Version Upgrade interface tab changed on RT-AC86U?

I can still easily get 940 Mbps across the WAN with only Runner (or was it Flow Cache) enabled. Can't remember which one we lose when the Trend Micro stuff is enabled. Don't let this stop you from using any of the Trend Micro stuff if you have a desire to. Adaptive (I think it is the adaptive...
