They don't want to discontinue. They want to make space for Armor, just like for their other models.

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.83SF

This has little to do with the firmware. I suspect you have one of those newer models that use Macronix NAND Flash chips. They're known to be defective hardware-wise and reset their config if you reboot or turn on/off/back on the router. Also, best configuration is done using the Web UI of the...

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.83SF

@Voxel When using DHCPv6, after a router restart, radvd fails to start thus resulting in no default route advertising (RA) to connected devices. Always have to manually start it with radvd -C /tmp/radvd.conf. Then everything works

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.83SF

Congestion control algo's are not so much about speed but about how they handle congestion. Admittedly, CCs are often tested by their speed but IMHO it's better to test how they handle congestion when you put them under pressure. As previously mentioned, Westwood seems to be pretty unfair while...

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.83SF

This was discussed previously. Basically, westwood is very greedy algo that sucks up all available bandwidth when needed, leaving little over for other things that want it too. YeAH is more balanced and fair and while you may see a bit lower throughput, the plus side is that it distributes it...

    DLNA limits

I suggest investing in a new, faster NAS. Routers are not meant to be used as media servers. It's and add-on so the marketing can brag about it. If you have so many files/media, a new NAS will blow away a router with DLNA

    R7800 congestion control

Westwood sucks up all bandwidth, it's why you see no fluctuations in speeds. It's an aggressive, greedy algo. YeAH backs off if there's other (minor) network stuff going on

    R7800 congestion control

I use YeAH as CC; Westwood is too aggressive and greedy, though it works well in wireeless networks. All the research papers I've read report roughly the same thing

    Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.82SF & v. 1.0.2.82.1SF & v. 1.0.2.82.2SF

Was fighting a bit with the new config of dnscrypt-proxy-2. After 10 minutes was able to get it working. The rest works without issues NG just released a new .80 version that has unspecified "security fixes"

    R7800 IPV6 drops

In (very) recent firmware, NETGEAR only allows echo requests to be reachable for IPv6. This is how it passes IPv6 tests and gives the illusion that it complies. It does not, since there are more ICMPv6 options that need to be passed too. I wrote my own IPv6 firewall which fully complies with...

    Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.80SF & v. 1.0.2.80.4SF & v. 1.0.2.80.5SF

I've had one case where if I enable DoS protection, the router would block one of my devices regardless of what I try to fix this. Disabling DoS protection make the problem go away. So as I said, lots of false positives to the point it's mostly worthless. Might catch 1-5% legitimate attempts but...

    Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.80SF & v. 1.0.2.80.4SF & v. 1.0.2.80.5SF

Not mutch. NG is famous for having many, many false positives. And it puts a strain on the router. I personally have it disabled from day 1 and never had issues thus far in the past 3 years

I see NETGEAR has released the sources of .74. Are you going to incorporate some of them? If so, don't replace net-wall as it's still broken when you feed it the -6 option for IPv6
