    MoCA Network help

It is great if all your COAX terminate in a central spot. Then you can decide how many MOCA adapters you want on a group (yes they will share bandwidth if they are in the same group, meaning off the same splitter). I have a mix in my house. For things that don't need but 100Mbit I use...

    MoCA 2.5 adapters?

It appears to have one 1Gbit ethernet port. A little surprised by this. Thought they might have done 2.5Gbit NBase-T. Still, since a gigabit ethernet port can push 2 Gbit total (full duplex), and MOCA is half duplex, this adapter should still push more than a MOCA 2.0 through the Gigabit port.

Connecting two separate WANs for Port Forwarding

Is the Tunnel a VPN? If so then you should be able to port forward directly form the "Public" router to the endpoint. Example: 111.111.111.111:5555 forward directly to 192.168.2.200:80. The public router should know the route. If not you might have to add a route statement telling it how to...

    Need help with retrofit network

Is your cable modem just a modem or is it a router/modem combo? If it is just a modem and your router is the rt-ac86u then your cameras will be outside of your firewall, which is not a good idea (and can cause problems if you plan to use DHCP on the cameras). If you modem is really a...

    Soho Network Setup

I agree with the other replies. If your not careful you could spend alot of money and end up with a solution that does not work for you. I would recommend professional help. If that is out of the budget then make sure to describe your network, devices, and even type of business the best you...

Router with OpenVPN + Failover + Killswitch ?

Untangle can do what you want, and it can do it from the GUI, but I can't say the setup is real easy. It depends on how network savvy you are. You can definitely get the help you need over on the Untangle forums. I use Untangle and I am extremely happy with it. Some advanced stuff like what...

Switch with Bandwith limiter per interface?

The TP-Link smart switches do bandwidth limit per port. Like I have the TL-SG2216 and it does it. I can't say how well it works as I have never used that feature with it.

Simple VLAN across two switches not working as expected

You certainly can set the PVID to 1 on the backbone if you want to. In your configuration the PVID of the backbone should not matter. Personally I don't like using the default VLAN for anything. I usually make a new VLAN to replace the default and I make a separate VLAN just for "backbone"...

    PC Access Across Multiple VLAN

If you have two public IP's then carry on as you were. It is weird that one is faster than the other though since I assume the Eastlink has only one physical line coming into it. Are you testing the speeds on a wired connection or wireless?

    PC Access Across Multiple VLAN

I agree with coxhaus in that this whole scenerio falls apart if your Eastlink ISP modem is not delivering two public IP's on two different interfaces. If it is not then it could still work if the Eastlink is actually a router/modem not in bridged mode, though you would have a double NAT...

Simple VLAN across two switches not working as expected

Ok so you have Port 2 on the home switch attached to Port 8 in the Garage right? You have the WAN port of the ASUS attached to Port 3 of the home switch right? You have the LTE router attached to Port 7 in the garage right? If so, can you post the PVID sceens for the two switches? Also which...

    PC Access Across Multiple VLAN

So is it working like you want it to? I am trying to go back through your post to see exactly what you wanted it to do but it is getting overwhelming. If its not working like you want let us know whats not working and also restate exactly what you want it to do.

    PC Access Across Multiple VLAN

In your posted configuration, you will not use any tagged ports. To use tagged ports you would need VLAN aware devices (like a router or another smart switch). The article I liked to should show you how to do exactly what you want to do. Try to use it as a guide and if you hit problems after...

    PC Access Across Multiple VLAN

This works because you have ports that are members of both VLANs. As coxhaus has said this is not the way to really set up VLANs. Also, you are using a single subnet across multiple VLANs. When you do this, you create a security risk. The best way to do what you want is with a router. If...

    PC Access Across Multiple VLAN

If your Eastlink modem is truly bridged I don't see how the above diagram is working correctly. None the less, if you want two VLANs that are on separate subnets to talk you need a router (a real router, not the consumer router/gateways), or a routing switch (layer 3 switch - or possibly even a...

Simple VLAN across two switches not working as expected

Ok create your 802.1q VLANs on each switch (VLAN100 and VLAN1 - I assume VLAN1 is already there and is the default). Ok so lets say port 1 on each switch is the port you are using to connect the two. So port1 would be tagged in both VLAN1 and VLAN100 (on both switches) and go ahead and make...

    Hopefully simple vlan question

By the way I just reread your post. If you want the devices on one LAN to be able to talk to the devices on the other LAN, and both have WAN access, why are you looking to implement a second IP Range?

    Hopefully simple vlan question

No one has replied so I'll give it a shot. It's not as simple as it seems. You have two things at play here. To do what you want you need VLANs (which are layer 2) and subnets (which are layer 3). The switch you listed is capable of Vlan's (which can separate the traffic for you), but to be...

    PFSense - Guest Wi-Fi without VLAN's ?

Many Wifi routers that offer a guest feature actually use VLANs in the background. You just don't see it. There are some that just use isolation. There are AP's that offer similar isolation. They have nothing to do with the router you use (so nothing to do with pfSense). Anyway the only one...

    PFSense and Modem\Modem Mode Security

I have never heard of this. Even businesses that i know of that use pfSense don't do this. Not sure what the point would be. pfSense is mainly a firewall. If someone did not want to use it for a firewall why would you use it at all? I guess maybe as a standard router, but there are better...
