pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

^^^ 99% of computer users have NO CLUE about certificates, what they enable or how powerful they are when in the wrong hands. We might as well get used to regenerating these yearly to stay ahead of this mess.. Apple is creating. While I understand the reasoning, it's going to cost a pretty...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

^^^ If ASUS "updated/improved/altered" the handling of the router's login PW, I'd wager they also did the same with all PW for security purposes....(I'd hope...) Update: I have another AC86U OTW to allow me to debug this further without making the family more angry with the instabilities in...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

^^^ Yes, TY! You are confirming some of the deltas I quoted above as my "primary suspects..." Your setup is what I believe will be most stable on 384.19 + AC86U. It is a focused KIS implementation with no extras. I see AIProtect is OFF - keep it that way. ;) TY for posting your setup! :)

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Count your lucky stars! There are few reporting here "no isssue" and I think that's great. We know there's a set of no problem vs lots of problems from all the posts. Could you please verify if you are or are not using any of what I list below? BLUF: If you are using basic 384.19 on a AC86U...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Based on my PITB with my AC86U + 384.19, if you are going to use it, I strongly recommend not moving anything in any file. I've done this before and plan to do it again. But yes, supposedly you can backup the config file on one router and move it to a new router of a different model per...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Hmmm, not a super linux expert but is there any chance entware is installed on sda1? What about -> /dev/sda1 193.7M 184.4M 0 100% /tmp/mnt/sda1

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

That looks like the router's USB drive may be full or either the USB, if it is a key, may be worn out and put itself into ReadOnly mode. Use "df -h" to see if it is full. If it is not and is still not writeable, then many times these USB keys will go into ReadOnly mode when they are failing...

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

You are not dreaming. I've seen similar on my AC86U @ 384.19. There are huge gaps in the logs and I know these a*((* are still pounding the router since I rebooted it at 06:00.. yet nada. Something is up with either 384.19 a/o these entware updates. ... Sep 15 06:13:19 crond[1266]: time...

ntpMerlin ntpMerlin - NTP Daemon for AsusWRT Merlin

^^^ Should that be in the nptMerlin menu or scMerlin options as "nuclear" ntpMerlin reset? ;)

    RT-AC87U 2x CPU on 100%

I'm seeing near 100% pCPUs running 384.19 on an AC86U... posted about it in the main 384.19 thread. You would have to check the router logs... IDK what's causing it at this point. Hoping others report similar. Stay safe, stay alive. Peace.

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Diversion (with Pixelserv) won't get every ad but it gets a lot for use. With YT, it's wack-a-mole so all that "as-is/experimental". I also use the real UBLOCK in FF and Brave... I see very few annoying ads.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

My son complained last night about 23:00 that the "internet was not working" so I took a look. The AC86U had been up about 10 hours - running 384.19 + AMTM+ J1* scripts to USB/SSD (it's not been nuclear reset yet) I caught the AC86U slamming pCPU for no clear reason. I put the logging mode...

    Occasional Reboots

Multiple times. There's a whole painful thread running in 384.19 release..... This may be another symptom of "/JFFS" issues. I'm monitoring this closely. Having others report is good to know. TY.

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

^^^ Have you forced all your DNS traffic to go thru the router? In some cases, these "SmartA&& apps" hardcode their own DNS servers into the app... to be sure you see their crappy ads. Sometimes there's little you can do about that... LAN > DNSFilter > Enable DNS-based Filtering > ON --> Router.

    Occasional Reboots

Yes I have seen my AC86U @ 384.19 reboot (in fact it rebooted last night around 02:00 am ish) without me telling it to do. Not using the reboot scripts. I have never caught the same AC86U @ 384.18 rebooting on it's own. I am currently having GC/CRC/JFFS issues if I direct I/O from the J*...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Update: 10 Sep 2020 06:00 - The AC86U ran with J* scripts hitting JFFS without CRC/GC errors for nearly 48 hours once I deleted the even small nt_center.db. Around 06:00AM today, the GC/CRC errors returned. I checked there was nothing in the /jffs/.sys/nc/* dir this time. The size of the...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Warning: I do not believer there's a way backward from 384.19 to 384.18 without a nuclear reset! Why? More changes in ASUS's handling the router login PW. Several earlier posts mention that gotcha. IDK, maybe if you set the default userid and then blank for the password you might get away...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

^^^^ Yeap, tried on SAT deleting the nc db.. the GC/CRC errors returned when I move the J* scripts back. Killing that file, sadly, did not work for my AC86U. Thanks for the suggestions! (See my update about this file returning).... Update: 04:30 09/09/20 - My brain is exhausted down this...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

10-4... I have not tried a JFFS format + all new AMTM + manually moving my custom scripts yet. 100% correct. Great point! The Diversion + SkyNet whitelists + my NextDNS setup scripts (not the client) are the most critical elements. (mainly /jffs/configs) I could move those back into JFFS...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Rather than stringing this out over several posts.. I put all the latest test info in this earlier posting.. -> https://www.snbforums.com/threads/release-asuswrt-merlin-384-19-is-now-available.65801/page-31#post-617153 BLUF: The CRC/GC errors return whenever there's heavy I/O to the JFFS...
