Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 is now available for AC models

You definitely should try. You're correct. The issue is not in the firmware or the driver. It's in the nature of radio signals. You can have a look at this Intel's whitepaper to familiarize yourself with the issue. Your 2.4Ghz devices may seem to function well until the next interference from...

    Updating dnsmasq.conf.add does nothing

    Have you followed sections 2) «Adjust router configuration» and 3) «Adjust DHCP Server Options» of Merlin's instructions?

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 is now available for AC models

Have you considered interference from USB3.0 data signal? It can considerably hinder the quality of wireless in 2.4Ghz range.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 is now available for AC models

Same issue here. I'm still on 386.12_0 on two GT-AC2900's.

How do you block the DNS of a device

Did I understand you correctly that you blocked LAN IP's of IoT devices? Do you mean that blocking LAN traffic of IoT devices sends them to "zombie" state? I personally use AdGuardHome to block DNS traffic of certain LAN clients. The regex /^.*/ does the whole job: AdGuardHome is used to...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

From what I can infer from our earlier discussion SMB clients on both your GT-AX6000 and AC86U could connect to SMB v2.1 server on your NAS at 192.168.86.9; whereas both GT-AC2900 and AX86U have SMB v2 servers supported by firmware. IMHO, one strategy could be to start to connect SMB client to...

I have two GT-AC2900's. I chose the one that is not exposed to www to store backups of entware's and jffs's from both. Have been using nsrum for backups for what seems like ages. Now thinking about configuring an alternative.

Indeed, I've been asking myself this question. Since, I only need the share to save backups from two routers on the local network, I thought that maybe I can get away with SMB 2.0.

Actually, I am not. Network Place (Samba) Share / Cloud Disk tab says my firmware support SMBv1 + SMBv2 only. I am thinking about installing samba4-server - 4.18.0-1 from entware. I found a thread about configuring it on this forum.

Unfortunately, doesn't work. Thank you for drawing my attention to this detail. However, with vers=2.0 works fine.

Can you, please, post the output of # mount? My shows that the share is mounted using SMB v2.0; whereas trying to mount using SMB v2.1 throws an "Invalid argument error".

@Viktor Jaep Thank you for your prompt reply! You're right. GT-AC2900 runs a lower kernel version. Should be the same as for AC86U. I would love to but I'm afraid naming of SMB shares is automatically done during boot and it includes spaces. The names of SMB shares also include disk labels.
