RT AC86U Spontaneously Started Crashing on 386.2_4

You understood it absolutely correct. However, everyone's configuration is unique and many things may go wrong. So, it's usually a trial and error path. Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer to this question. You should try and see what you get for your configuration. This is why I...

Maybe because the id of the message to which you wanted to post a reply has changed after I merged it with another message since your further messages are visible.

RT AC86U Spontaneously Started Crashing on 386.2_4

IMHO couple of seconds is enough. When I connect an UART interface card to the routher that has been disconnected from all cables and dongles as well as from power, and when I push the power button, the LED's on the UART interface card blink and I get couple of lines of code on the console...

RT AC86U Spontaneously Started Crashing on 386.2_4

Thank you for describing your status in so much detail. This I think is essential. It's the reason of your router's rebooting from time to time. The kernel tries to execute code which signature has changed and «panics» rebooting your router. The most severe case would be a boot loop. And this...

    RT-AC88U random crashes

Cheer up, your router is fully functional, no reason to be at a loss :) Tweaking config settings a lot may sometimes result in weird behavior up to kernel panics. I may recommend nvram reset and setting up the router manually from ground up again. Take a look at this post...

    repair ac86u with delsolder flashing

Then it's very unlikely that your router has a bad solder joint. Bad solder joints develop over the years of operating at high/extreme internal chip temperatures, low ambient temperatures and turning the device on and off often. But even if bad solder joints develop (happens from time to time...

    repair ac86u with delsolder flashing

For how long have you been using the device? What are the ambient operating conditions and internal chip temperatures? Do you often power if off and then on again or does it usually stay always on?

    repair ac86u with delsolder flashing

You may experience a boot loop due to kernel panic after a firmware update or a configuration change. Are you connected to the router's UART interface?

Accidentally flashed RT-AX86U firmware on RT-AC86U and now unable to flash back the correct firmware

The computer's LAN interface should be reconfigured correctly in order for http to work on 192.168.1.1; for tftp to work you have to configure tftp server on the computer in addition to correctly reconfiguring the LAN interface. Your router seems to be fully recoverable and the UART card will...

Accidentally flashed RT-AX86U firmware on RT-AC86U and now unable to flash back the correct firmware

In fact, it most probably does but you just can't see it unless you're connected to console: You have to correctly configure the LAN card and tftp server on your PC or Mac and the router will be flashed automatically.

Accidentally flashed RT-AX86U firmware on RT-AC86U and now unable to flash back the correct firmware

Have you tried holding WPS button and powering the device on? AC86U should go into interactive CFE mode and the http server should become available on 192.168.1.1 provided you configured the LAN card correctly on your PC or Mac. In fact AC86U will be bricked when you mess up the boot loader in...

    GT-AC2900 - 160MHz not available if 2.4GHz set to ch 11?

But today there are AX devices that are backward compatible with AC including AC Wave 2. I'm just trying to say that the use of GT's 160MHz is not limited to AC devices only.

    GT-AC2900 - 160MHz not available if 2.4GHz set to ch 11?

What about backward compatibility? Aren't AC devices able to use a/n mode?
