Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

I think I've found a bug in Diversion opkg dependencies during install; it doesn't seem to install the 'zip' package required for email backup; resulting in being email a zero byte zip file as a backup. /opt/share/diversion/file/backup.div: line 204: zip: not found

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

DNS blocking. The operation of Diversion is explained on the website - https://diversion.ch/ . Isn't having choices good a good thing in life? I chose to use thelonelycoder's scripts, they have improved my life, not given me 'trouble'. I'm very grateful to him for spending his time developing...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

I assume that you're using a Windows PC to access your router. You need a SSH client on your PC, PuTTY is a popular choice - https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ . Download, install and run PuTTY. Enter the ip address of your router, PuTTY defaults to SSH on port 22. Click on the...

    Plugin for speedtest

Would this script - https://www.snbforums.com/threads/spdmerlin-automated-speedtests-with-graphs.55904/ solve your problem? You can install it using amtm - https://www.snbforums.com/threads/amtm-the-snbforum-asuswrt-merlin-terminal-menu.42415/

That's not required. You state that you imported the certificate into the Firefox certificate store, but did you also import the certificate into the Windows certificate store (I assume you're using Windows)?

amtm amtm - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu

I would unmount the USB drive using the router GUI and then run a disk check, e.g. fsck.ext3 /dev/sda1 as a first step

Asus Router app - HTTPS Protocol issue

I've never used the phone app. If you read discssions on the forum the recommendations will be to disable web access to the router from the internet, due to security concerns. Seems most people use openvpn for administrator access to the router, I use a ssh tunnel.

Is using a USB stick a bad idea?

I suggest that you consider a single board computer, e.g. Raspberry Pi, Odroid (https://www.hardkernel.com) for your media serving. They're low cost, low power and small.

Try running the disk check script in amtm?

Alternatively you can use John's firmware https://www.snbforums.com/threads/fork-asuswrt-merlin-374-43-lts-releases-v39e3.18914/ . It's very stable running on my AC66U.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

From the OP: For supported routers currently running ASUS firmware 380.3000 or above, or Merlin 380.60 or above, you cannot load this fork using the built in firmware update web interface. You must use the ASUS Firmware Restoration Tool from the ASUS support website or the built in CFE Mini-Web...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Enable diversion, choose option 'f' (follow dnsmasq.log), choose option '3' (filter by blocked domains) Reload the website in the browser and observe which hosts are shown in the terminal display. If there are host names that look relevant, add them to the diversion whitelist and try again.

You're lucky! A traceroute from here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to dns.quad9.net goes via Japan to a host in California o_O
