[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.9 is now available

Isn't this the whole point of Merlin? I thought it overcame many of the limitations or flaws. Yes it looks like Asus and Broadcom have dropped the ball in some areas but that's not Merlin's fault. Still a great solution even with the flaws. I'll sit tight for a little and watch before...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.9 is now available

Read the changelog, thanks! I'll sit back and wait a bit to see how it's working for others, this looks like a major update. Anyone using the 86u and how's it working so far? Little concerned about this IPS event logging bug but as Merlin says, it 'should' still be working. That looks like...

    Back up USB

rt-86u here. Me here too, my USB stick is quite old, I literally found an old one in a drawer and threw that in, so if it dies what do I do. Should I migrate it or what. I think my logs and traffic stats are stored on the USB drive too, I'd like to keep that.

    How to install ntop ?

What did you all end up going with? I have now installed 'netdata' on my 86u via entware, but I am concerned about resource usage if left running. ntopng looks like the way to go. Anyone got this running on a 86u? How's it working for you?

    Netdata Monitoring

Just installed on a rt86u no problem with just netdata install (entware) - runs fine, but with a LOT of data. So I have stopped it for now, concerned it will kill the router if left running doing that much. Anyone got this going on a 86u? What's your setup?

Web History, Statistics of Traffic Analyzer and System Log to USB

How much history is retained or can be retained and does it ever fill up jffs? It would be handy to periodically flush or archive to USB.

    High CPU

Htop is far more rich... Did you sort by CPU usage? What did it say? Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

    High CPU

If you are running Merlin, install Entware and then open a SSH terminal and install htop. Run htop. It's a command line resource monitor. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

You never know... AIMesh may work on Merlin someday.. I don't know why they can't just give Merlin compiled binaries or something. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

    Rt-ac86u high ram..

Oh right, I'll stick to terminal commands then.. There seems to be some good terminal based utilities and monitors. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

    Rt-ac86u high ram..

Indeed it is! Yes that shows buffer too, of which I only have 8MB buffer / 42MB cache / 36MB free. Seems fine though. htop is great to show what's using what though.. Best resource monitor ever. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

    Rt-ac86u high ram..

As I said, it's normal. However htop will show what is using RAM and how much is cache. Ensure you set up a Swap file too. You can use htop to sort by RAM usage and display what is using the most RAM. Do not use the Download Manager with Entware as it is incompatible I believe. What does htop...

[Solved] Sudden loss of Wi-Fi security

Can you connect without WPS? It's a known vulnerability anyway so I have never used it. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

    Rt-ac86u high ram..

So you do not see any negative effects? Yes play will with htop. It's a good utility. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

    Rt-ac86u high ram..

Yes it is normal to see high ram. Much would be cache. Install Entware / htop (via Diversion script) and run htop via SSH and you will see what I mean. It is normal. Are you seeing any negative effects? Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

There is a lot of junk on that route apparently so I could see why... Works fine though. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

[Diversion] failed to write /var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.leases: No space left on device

Just out of curiosity, is there a pressing reason you just can't use a bigger drive? Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

[Diversion] failed to write /var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.leases: No space left on device

That won't fix the no swap issue.. Swap is still required, even if just 100MB, and a larger flash drive is strongly advised. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
