    ntpMerlin ntpMerlin v3.x

The data is miniscule. You are looking at something like tens of kB a day per server you are checking against. It's best to let Chrony manage the poll rates, as these will adjust dynamically depending on how severe your drift and availability is.

    ntpMerlin ntpMerlin v3.x

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Try the opposite case...without the fan, and see if there is a difference.
  3. Wade Coxon

    ntpMerlin ntpMerlin v3.x

Still worth trying the fan as the drift may not follow the CPU temperature, since the clock signal could be coming from another component external to the CPU.
  4. Wade Coxon

    ntpMerlin ntpMerlin v3.x

It could very well be temperature related since the drift absolutely follows a normal day's temperature curve. It is also possible that there are other upstream latency related factors at play that cause your drift to be measured incorrectly. Your baseline drift is already so low, that any...

    CakeQOS CakeQOS-Merlin v1.0.8

Do you realise that if you just run "cake-qos" without any parameters, there is a fully menu driven interface for setting options? It's a little more long winded using the menu, but at least you don't need to worry about precise syntax.

    CakeQOS CakeQOS-Merlin v1.0.8

@ttgapers I presume that the cake-qos project will still live on, and instead be modified to such that it ties into the Merlin-native script structure now. Any tweaks and tunes from cake-qos will override Merlin's defaults. And from what I understand, Merlin has now figured out how to add all...

    [Alpha] 386.2

Agreed, no sense in washing when using in conjunction with besteffort. Note though, that if you do manage to allow for DSCP marking on ingress (as-per prior discussion), we will want to be able to override the besteffort on ingress setting, so we can use diffserv 3 or 4 instead. Then it can be...

    [Alpha] 386.2

Apologies, I am only able to relay half-understood details :). Maybe touch base with @Odkrys as they seem to know what is required for ingress tagging on OpenWRT. They are apparently using tc's ctinfo action with OpenWRT, which this firmware doesn't support, but suggests that skbedit presents...

    [Alpha] 386.2

Oh ok, sounds like it might be safe to do then. Perhaps my mistake in thinking that slider would trigger the permissions. Must also need to enable adaptive to trigger the permissions prompt.

    [Alpha] 386.2

It's separate. Which does raise a good point. Hopefully the GUI is accessible without needing to enable the global QoS slider, and hence needing to give permissions for Trend Micro. I definitely prefer having Trend Micro entirely off with permissions withdrawn.

    [Alpha] 386.2

My understanding was that this was for egress only. Doesn't "tc filter" need to be used for ingress tagging?

    CakeQOS CakeQoS Help

So since Cake is moving into the main firmware now, RMerlin has commented on the iptables --set-dscp functionality. No mention of tc and skbedit though. Is all that still required? Has RMerlin forgotten something? http://www.snbforums.com/threads/alpha-386-2.70020/post-668931

    [Alpha] 386.2

If cake is coming to the webui, is there a chance of enabling skbedit so we can apply our own DSCP marking as well then? http://www.snbforums.com/threads/cakeqos-help.70235/post-668233

AC88U Bridge Mode Issue - ISP? Firmware or Hardware-related Issue

Have you adjusted your MTU size to account for the PPPoE encapsulation when in bridge mode?
  15. Wade Coxon

    [Alpha] 386.2

Is there any chance of enabling the skbedit feature in this alpha/beta as-per the post from @Odkrys here: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/cakeqos-help.70235/post-668233 I would dearly love to try dscp marking of traffic for cake QoS.

    CakeQOS CakeQoS Help

The "triple-isolate" setting (which is default) should take care of that to a degree automatically. Though I don't know there is much to be done about those sorts of bulk multi-flow traffic sources short of DSCP identification and marking, which is something that hasn't been tackled yet.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

This has been discussed heavily in the beta thread if you are keen to go and have a read. Those temperatures aren't great, but not critical. Mine hovers around that mark as well. If you are using more than a single Ethernet port on the ac86u, then you will find that they can actually generate...

Why multicasting is so poor on WiFi?

I take it the problematic media player is on 2.4GHz then? Turn off Explicit Beamforming, and set the multicast rate to Auto. Any reason you are limiting the modulation scheme to 802.11n? And drop your channel width to 20MHz. 40MHz in the 2.4GHz is asking for trouble.

FlexQoS FlexQoS - Asus RTAC86U - Huge UPLOAD BufferBloat

Agreed. Cake works a treat on the AC86U! A+ all round on a sub-100Mbps connection.

Double check the shipping charge too. For me it shows up as $50US!!
