    ntpMerlin ntpMerlin v3.x

nts is just a secure and encrypted version of regular ntp. It means that you can verify the validity of the server you are connecting to using an encryption certificate, and ensures that packets can't be modified in transit. The reason I question the need to worry about this is that if you had...

    ntpMerlin ntpMerlin v3.x

It's honestly not worth finessing your configuration to that level. Point your router to up to a dozen of the pool server addresses and don't work so much :). That ensures that you will have a random selection of servers at any one time, it spreads the overall traffic load around evenly. If...

    RT-AC68U temp throttle limit

Now the rt-ac86u had some quite specific temperature problems in the latest firmware series that pushed temps up 15 or so degrees. I don't believe that the same issues were present in the rc-ac68u though, but there might have still been a minor increase recently. Based on that, I would say...

    RT-AC68U temp throttle limit

It will throttle at 100 degrees C, but you would probably want to be looking at some sort of cooling solution if your temperatures are in the high 80s or 90s.

    ntpMerlin What is ntpMerlin?

    Placebo effect unfortunately.

    ntpMerlin What is ntpMerlin?

ntp adjusts the router's time-of-day clock to remain more-or-less in-step with the time-of-day clock of an accurate time source. That's it, that's the limit of the synchronisation that is taking place. ntp does nothing to improve the router's underlying oscillator drift (it just measures it)...

    ntpMerlin What is ntpMerlin?

It's a neat video, but is not applicable to the topic of ntp. ntp does not synchronise the clock pulses or "ticks" between different devices, or even synchronise them within a single device. It just adjusts the device's time-of-day to compensate for imprecise "ticking".

My RT-AC86U Merlin 386.2 shows only Core 1 (Core 2 disappeared), High temp --> How to adjust to be a normal

This has been covered at exhausting length in a few threads now. Here is one that is dedicated to the topic and should contain all the info and links you need: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/router-temperatures.71123/ In short, the 386.x firmware series introduces some new CPU hungry...

    CakeQOS CakeQoS-Merlin v2.0.0 alpha

You say you have enabled QoS in the WebUI, but did you also select the "cake" "QoS Type"? (As opposed to "Adaptive QoS", "Traditional QoS" and "Bandwidth Limiter")

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2 is now available

I'm not sure about the field validation error, but just wanted to point out that a value of 0 doesn't disable cake, rather it puts it into "auto bandwidth" mode.

    CakeQOS CakeQoS-Merlin v2.0.0 alpha

The built in solution works just the same and is less "hacky" (ie. it has a web configuration screen and messing around at the command line is not required), and does not require extra entware packages. I don't see any reason for not using the built-in solution.

    ntpMerlin What is ntpMerlin?

Something is broken though. It would not be possible to maintain that clock accuracy using ntp.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2 is now available

I don't think it will hurt, but at the same time it is probably not ideal to have the entware cake binaries alongside the built-in ones. For the sake of simplicity, uninstall the old cake, and install the new cake-qos 2.0.0 addon, and you can do all your custom configuration via the GUI. You...

    CakeQOS CakeQoS-Merlin v2.0.0 alpha

It may still be useful to wash the marks so that any additional switches and routers behind your router do not act on the dscp marks. Cake is designed to be used on all sorts of enterprise class equipment too, not just home routers. For us, I don't see a whole lot of point in it.

    ntpMerlin What is ntpMerlin?

And I just have to say this again. Remember that ntp will not improve the operation of your Internet connection. It will improve the accuracy of the time-of-day clocks in your router and your LAN devices and allow you to more accurately timestamp events occurring on your networked devices...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2 is now available

Install the new cake-qos addon and you can make all your configurations from the web interface.

    CakeQOS CakeQoS Gaming issue

Yep, that looks pretty optimal now. You probably wouldn't have noticed any practical difference between diffserv3/4/besteffort, it's mosly window dressing until we get DSCP marking on packets. And you might not have even had trouble between triple-isolate and the two dual-xxxhost options...

    CakeQOS CakeQoS Gaming issue

You don't want to use dual-dsthost on upload. You need to use dual-srchost instead since the traffic direction is reversed. triple-isolate is an ok alternative to use, but just know that if another PC on your LAN initiates a torrent or similar number of large volume, high connection count...

    CakeQOS CakeQoS-Merlin v2.0.0 alpha

Most of the recent reports say that dual-srchost and dual-dsthost work better than the universal triple-isolate setting.

    CakeQOS CakeQoS-Merlin v2.0.0 alpha

Yep, sorry, ack-filter on upload @jbehrmusic. And the tick box makes that a nice easy setting to make :)
