    Asuswrt-Merlin/AX86U with Wireguard support coming?

I've agonized over whether or not to reply,.....but after having looked through individuals' profiles and finding.... "You have landed on the friendliest and most helpful website for home network users on all the web. Please help keep it that way!"..... Yes, it is "too daunting" at my...

    Asuswrt-Merlin/AX86U with Wireguard support coming?

NOW THAT is the way things should be explained! ;):D That put a huge smile on my face!

    Asuswrt-Merlin/AX86U with Wireguard support coming?

Care to elaborate? Speaking from the viewpoint of a somewhat newbie, there's no obvious avenue for using WireGuard. If you're talking scripts or such, that's a bit over my head currently. ;)

    Asuswrt-Merlin/AX86U with Wireguard support coming?

Thanks! I went to that thread, and read most of it. I think I got a bit lost, because it seemed that the thread is referencing Asus firmware.... acquired via the Asus site/router support page, rather than Asuswrt-Merlin firmware that I typically get here...

    Asuswrt-Merlin/AX86U with Wireguard support coming?

Morning! I was looking at my VPN vendor's site today, and found they are now offering router support for WireGuard. I've been running Asuswrt-Merlin firmware on my RT-AX86U since it was new, and it currently does not support WireGuard........ and am wondering if it will be coming out with...

    New to VPNs on Routers..

That gives me a great insight into all those "extras" that SurfShark offers! :) Thanks!

    New to VPNs on Routers..

I've only been with SurfShark since the holidays..... so still feeling them out. I did get a blog entry/notice that Nord and SurfShark have "merged", which I suspect means Nord bought them out. My biggest point in the post is that it just seems to me that running a VPN on a single device...

    New to VPNs on Routers..

I am learning more about VPNs, along with some growing suspicions. That being, does a VPN really do what it claims? Since I live in a smaller area, we are very limited to any high speed internet service..... and in ONE choice.... so most use this ISP. Recently a friend of mine was visiting...

New AX86U router..... can't convert to Merlin??

All of my router/APs are Ethernet wired, with the AX86U set to reboot everyday at 3:10am...... and I never have any issues with reconnecting. Base on my recent experience with AImesh, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Even with the routers that Asus says are all compatible for mesh, with...

New AX86U router..... can't convert to Merlin??

I just wanted to swing by and say Thank you to everyone who helped me on this situation. I ended up doing what I said in my last post.... Used the AX86U as my primary router, then 1 AC88U and 3 AC68U routers in AP configuration, and now have a stable network that runs 15 Wyze cams via TinyCam...

New AX86U router..... can't convert to Merlin??

Well.... I GIVE UP! I have spent 4 days now, jacking around with Asus Routers. The ONLY way I could get any of the AImesh to work, was to put the most recent version of stock firmware on all the routers. Then the only one that would show up/connect to AImesh as a "node" was the AC88U...

New AX86U router..... can't convert to Merlin??

Thanks! I will read some more, but right now trying to get AImesh operational is the most frustrating thing I've encountered.... NOTHING works as advertised in any of the tutorials and/or literature. Where I was coming from about the "Advanced" tab.... in several "tutorials" they say that if...

New AX86U router..... can't convert to Merlin??

OK.....after a full day of trying, I did get the Merlin firmware to upload! I proceeded to TRY to setup AImesh, with the AX86U as the "router", and attempting to create "nodes". Once with an AC88U and the other an AC68U.... and again, can't make it work...... at least not with the Merlin...

New AX86U router..... can't convert to Merlin??

Still no success on the Merlin firmware, although I do have the router running my network right now. I actually downloaded the firmware a few times, just to make sure I was getting/using the correct file. (https://sourceforge.net/projects/asuswrt-merlin/files/RT-AX86U/Release/) I was a bit...

New AX86U router..... can't convert to Merlin??

My new AX86U arrived today, and a couple of strange things so far. First, unreachable via direct connection/IP (the documentation say the IP is 192.168.1.1). I guess I'm old school in that I always set up any new hardware directly from my laptop via LAN connection, and simply couldn't get...

    Asus Imesh and IP Cameras....

Thank you!! UPS just dropped off the new AX86.... so will start revamping the network this afternoon and see who it goes. I'll report back.... whichever way it goes.

    Asus Imesh and IP Cameras....

For a long time, my home network has been a primary (backbone) router connected via WAN port to LAN ports/ethernet of 3 other routers around the property, all in AP mode. I had unique SSIDs and channels with each of the routers for a total of 4 2.4SSIDs and 4 5.0SSIDs..... and a total of 16...

Routers, VPN, and IP cams on the network, what makes thing run well/smoothly?

Thanks Techwrench!! I used to have them all setup just as you said.... each router/AP on the network having their own SSIDs, and channels. The IP cameras still had lag and some time outs, but not nearly like now, with 4 routers/APs on the same network, each with the same SSIDs....and...

Routers, VPN, and IP cams on the network, what makes thing run well/smoothly?

Both of those last two replies make sense. Many thanks to both eibgrad and coxhaus! That lag on the IP cameras is intolerable! I did a bit more experimenting over the weekend, this time, going back to unique SSIDs on two of the three routers/APs that connect the IP cams via wireless. I...

Routers, VPN, and IP cams on the network, what makes thing run well/smoothly?

Now that I am digging deeper and deeper into the settings of my current router (RT-AC88U), I am finding that detailed documentation/explaination is difficult to find...if it even exists. The WIKI linked on the AsusMerlin site is woefully inaccurate and very limited in it's information. The...
