    I dont have the issue with WPS off, but I do have separate SSID for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz for my ai-mesh setup just in case you are using smart connect feature, which isn't supported on ac68u yet? I think, might wanna give that a try and it might help them to determine the issue faster

    the naming scheme is def confusing ;p I will try to test the TLS handshake issue by plug in the laptop directly to the modem to see if it's indeed cause by the Asus router. (assuming it's simple plug n play to hook up the laptop to the cable modem) Not sure how easy it is to reset cable...

    not really have the issue with my ac3100 (basically ac88 with 4 port), and it's connected to the Fios ONT via ethernet port as well. If you recently have thunderstorm, one thing I will try is to reset the ONT. unplug the power and the battery, let it see for say 5 min~15min, then connect it...

    WPS is needed for initial setup, or everytime you need to add a node. You can disable it after you set up the ai-mesh. I disabled the wps and haven't had issue with the mesh. Though I do set up my router to reboot weekly ;p

    have you tried what I suggested? Dont just reset/reinitialize, as I had similar issue and it was not solved after factory reset/reinitialized couple times. It was solved only after I actually power cycle and clear nvram via wps button.

    while I never use the app outside my house, I will guess it has to do with the remote access config setting? you can find it via Adminstration -> System Remote Access Config Enable Web Access from WAN personally dont recommend it, I would rather vpn back to access it.
