    Does any of this stuff work in the middle of 2021 ? I have no-ip subscription and I am having a real hard time to get around my ISP's CG-NAT to access my PC's remote desktop from outside WAN. Tailscale and other UDP hole punching VPN based services work but not at optimum speed.

    They just wont budge. They might actually just have 1 iPv4 which they are using for millions of their customers behind CG-NAT. CG-NAT is the worst invention ever. Non customer friendly and it triggers captchas on so many websites.

    Asus AX router recommendation for friend.

    ASUS RT-AX82U would be a happy compromise instead of buying RT-AX86U. The 82U does support 160Mhz channel width for faster link speeds. Galaxy S21 Ultra can reach 2.4 Gbps link.

    I have 2 RT-AX88Us. One as node. Even though both support WPA3, it is disabled and WPA2 is used as a fallback the moment you add the 2nd RT-AX88U as a node in AiMesh 2.

    Just an update... The A1 RT-AX88U is still holding well with the command pwr config --cpuwait on via ssh. This is almost after 1.5 years. I thought I had WAN instability but WAN disconnects are same irrespective of cpuwait is on or off. So that's a firmware issue.

    Make sure you have set 5 Ghz channel bandwidth to 160 Mhz only and set control channel to 40. Leave rest of the wifi settings to default. Apply and Reboot This should enable 2.4 Gbps link speeds for Galaxy S21 Ultra. Then test speeds again. I hit 800-900 Mbps Wifi 6 speeds on my Intel AX210...

    Same problem with older firmwares. I have factory reset multiple times till now. I managed to return the earlier one and get a new one with A1.1 revision. Still the same issue with new piece as well.

    Proper way to Factory Default a router?

    Yes. Even I have 3 RT-AX88U and I first remove the nodes from GUI. This causes them to factory reset. Then I do the above steps to reset only on main router. I don't reset nodes this way.
