    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

@Viktar Hushchynski Can you install the latest official firmware from Asus? Make sure that you perform factory reset and configure your router from scratch. For Wifi, don't change any default settings except set 5Ghz channel to 40 and width as 160 Mhz. 2.4Ghz cahnnel to 11 and width to 40 Mhz.

    RT-AX88U 5/14 firmware is bad

For me this is the FIRST REAL firmware for RT-AX-88U which does not make the router unusable after a week with rock hard stability.

    RT-AX58U/AX3000 vs. RT-AX88U for medium-sized house?

Then what the hell was the certification for v1.1 of RT-AX88U? Haha

    RT-AX58U/AX3000 vs. RT-AX88U for medium-sized house?

Just a little correction for you. RT-AX88U is not a draft AX router. Hardware revision 1.1 which is being sold since last 7-8 months is now fully certified for AX standard. You have a 3rd choice and that is to get RT-AX86U which is releasing shortly.

    RT-AX58U/AX3000 vs. RT-AX88U for medium-sized house?

If you have wooden walls, then RT-Ax58U would suffice. I have concrete walls and for me I need 2 x RT-AX88Us in mesh mode.

    I'm giving up with Asus

Dual WAN failover has NEVER worked for ANYONE ever, including myself. I gave up on that idea long ago after I tried it on RT-AC68U, RT-AC88U and now on my RT-AX88U. My RT-AX88U has different 8 port problem. 1-4 ports are extremely slow to gain IP address from DHCP (10-15 seconds) and the...

    RT-AX58U Wifi 6 Speed with iPhone 11

I had posted about the same few months back and was wondering why 160 Mhz wasn't enabled. Then someone suggested to use channel 40 and bam! success. I live in an area which has 2.4 Ghz congestion but 5 Ghz is totally free. So I do hit peak 1 Gigabit speeds on my Intel AX200 client.

    RT-AX58U Wifi 6 Speed with iPhone 11

Nope. Channel 40 gets you to utilize the 160 width. But in this scenario it depends on interference you rightly said in 2nd part of your sentence. @OP you need to do trial and error to see which channel gives you the best speed.

    AX58U + AX56U Mesh System Downside?

That's nice but who has Huawei P40 anyways? :D
  14. sanke1

    AX58U + AX56U Mesh System Downside?

No baggage. Just that your clients need to have 160 Mhz support as well. For example, Intel AX200 PCIe or m.2 cards support 160 Mhz but iPhone 11, Galaxy S10 and possibly S20 do not support 160 Mhz channel width. So it's yet to trickle into phones.

    AX58U + AX56U Mesh System Downside?

If you are still deciding to buy, then always buy 2 identical units for AI Mesh. I would recommend getting 2 x RT-AX58U because 160Mhz doubles bandwidth.

    Asus RT-AX89X review

At this moment, you are better off with RT-AX88U if you have 1 Gigabit or lower internet connection. With Wifi6E around the corner, RT-AX89X feels like a wasted beta experiment. The latest May 2020 firmware for RT-AX88U has finally hit the stability mark for me and been using it since 10 days...

    ASUS RT-AX88U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_9107

No such issues since 7 days of running this firmware without reboot. My setup is even more complicated with 2nd RT-AX88U in Mesh mode. None of my 2.4 Ghz devices have disconnected even once requiring reboot.

    ASUS RT-AX88U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_9107

I have no such issues with all 3 of my RT-AX88u's here. On 2.4 Ghz, I get more range than 5Ghz as expected. You most probably have faulty unit.

RT-AX86U On Sale in China & Reviewed!

So basically this should have been the RT-AX88U with extra 2.5 GBe port. But Asus is still keeping the "planned obsolescence" game alive by deliberately not including Wifi6E with RT-AX86U. Hehe :p
