    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

You know, that's a very good question. I have never read of anyone able to get a firmware out other than JTAG unit (not sure if you can get it out via Telnet console or not). Hmmmmm....

Copy exact. Save a backup copy of your original CFE in a safe place should anything happen.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

This happened several times over the last few weeks. Only happens when I reboot the modem (that I know of) and only way to fix it was to reboot the router. No rebooting of PC's, etc. at all.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Every Internet page that I try to visit (Yahoo for example) pops up the 'router' login page and asked me for the router login and password. If I type that in, I can go to the page. I have cleared cache of all of my browsers and still no luck. Only way to get rid of it is to reboot the router...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I think I've seen this posted before but couldn't find it. My modem was rebooted twice recently (firmware updates and my tinkering). Both times, the router connected back to the modem but gave me the login box for EVERY web page that I tried to visit. I had to reboot the router to get rid of...

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

    1. From my understanding, either of the commands will work. I think they both do the same thing (I'm sure somebody will smack me if I'm wrong). Once you execute one of them, you should have the file cfe_original.bin on your flash drive attached to the router. 2. Yes. You can download 7-zip...

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

You will need to first downgrade your firmware to an older version of the TMobile firmware. The reason is that you will need to do this to re-enable Telnet (which was removed from your firmware). After you get that (Telnet back), you'll need to download an older CFE (or the most current CFE...

    Download ASUS RT-AC68U Utility

Here's a copy that was snagged before Asus pulled the files. http://www.filedropper.com/utrtac68u4292 As an alternative, you can use pretty much any Asus restore utility as they are all TFTP based (that I know of). I used my old RT-N16 restore utility to flash my TMobile TM1900 (RT-AC68U)...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

There is a huge thread at SlickDeals on the TMobile AC1900 unit (RT-AC68U) and there was quite a bit of firmware discussion, including your fork, around that time so I assume that much of the spike came from those folks (including myself - still running the fork)! :D

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

There was several strange reports at SD that those users could not go to T-mobile.com after flashing the router. Turned out that T-Mobile.com was listed in the Domain field of the router. Had to be removed to allow the name to resolve correctly and for the page to load. Just a FYI for anyone...

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

Good information (even if above my head at this point). As for the TM-AC1900, is that written into the CFE instead of the running flash?

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

From all indications (and hundreds of people on SlickDeals who have already flashed including myself), I would say yet. In some cases, you'll have to use the recovery method as the standard GUI method will not allow other firmwares to be written (or so it has been posted by many).

    RT-ac66u reboots like crazy

Have you opened up the unit (assuming it's not under warranty) to see if there are any swelled or leaking capacitors? I have seen many types of hardware (including TV's, motherboards, etc.) exhibit this behavior because of a leaking/bad capacitor. How old is your router?

    RT-AC68P

Any chance that this is the version 2 of this router (which has already been filed with the FCC)?:D

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

I used the recovery utility for the RT-N16 on my AR-AC68 (TMobile version) and there were no issues. It's just a TFTP transfer utility (which TFTP.EXE also works). Once in recovery mode, the router will sit in a loop looking for a TFTP'ed firmware to load and flash (I've monitored this on the...

    RT-68U Tx Power

Yes. Per FCC mandate (that takes effect in 2016 IIRC), the power must be set below or at FCC limits and the end user is not to have access to adjust above that limit (If I understand it correctly). Seems as Asus has jumped the gun to make sure all their ducks are in a row. See here...
