Trying to setup Moca with Google Wifi, IP assignment problems

For anyone wondering what the problem was (like I did). https://support.google.com/googlenest/thread/70957687?hl=en According to OP his MoCA "merged" with his neighbour MoCA, even though OP had a PoE filter in his house. A stronger/ different PoE filter seems to have fixed it. I've had Google...

Restrict Hardwired LAN Port to Internet Only

Possible with custom firmware (asuswrt-merlin, tomato, dd-wrt) and VLAN tagging. Not possible on official ASUSWRT, as far as I know.

Is the RT-AC3200 even being updated by ASUS?

Yeah, it's a long known fact that it's not coming for AC3200, because of reasons beyond ASUS (Broadcom firmware). Newest firmware is from May 2020 https://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC3200/HelpDesk_BIOS/

Really disappointed with AiMesh, I switched to something else

Google WiFi has separate subnet for guest WiFi by default.

    goCoax MoCA 2.5 adapter

What latencies are people getting with these? I'm thinking added latency between the bridges. I had some MoCA 1.1 bridges from Netgear eralier, I saw around 5-12ms extra compared to being connected to the router directly.

    RT-AC3200 Current Official Firmware Thread (3.0.0.4.382.50624, 180601)

I do not own a AC3200 anymore, but newest firmware seems important. I'm just curious: Anyone tried it yet? Is AC3200 still good enough in late 2019?

    ASUS RT-N66U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.382.51641

More than seven years of firmware updates is pretty legit. It was first available for sale in january 2012.

    INCONSISTENT CONNECTION

I recommend Google WiFi with wired backhaul, you'll never have wifi peoblems again! Might not be the fastest or most privacy oriented choice, but the most set-and-forget-est it is.

Ability to set default font style for forum posts

I'd like the ability to set default font style for forum posts. The default I get when posting seem to be Georgia, but I like cleaner fonts, like Tahoma, Trebuchet MS, or Verdana. If this can be changed anywhere already I'm sorry for posting this. Could not find a setting for it on my account...

    MoCA 2.0 Actiontech ECB6000

Just bought ECB6200 and emailed Actiontec support regarding firmware. Got v2.11.1.50.6200.7 sent per mail. Apperently thats the way of obtaining firmware from Actiontec. My adapters already had this version, so did not need to update. Anyways, though I'd share it here if others need it. I got...

Really disappointed with AiMesh, I switched to something else

I had a ac68u, two ac3200 and a n66u. First time I heard about AiMesh I was so stoked, there were hope for my two very expensive ac3200 and even my old n66u. Time went by, and my routers never got included in the AiMesh system. Even more time went by, and people were not happy with ac68u in...

    RT-AC68U types Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_45149 for RT-AC68U/R/W/P, RT-AC1900/U/P and RT-AC66U_B1

So glad I sold my two AC3200, one N66U and one AC68U and went Google WiFi when reading these firmware threads.

    Have anyone tried Asus RT-AX88U?

I thought WPA3 was closer than end of 2019, my bad.

    Have anyone tried Asus RT-AX88U?

Gigabit LAN and WAN, no WPA3 and no WireGuard VPN. Can't even see they mention WPA3 in their info/specs. https://www.asus.com/Networking/RT-AX88U/specifications/ No point in having these theoretical wireless speeds if wired backhaul can't keep up. Waste of money, IMO.

ASUS Wrt RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.21045

I do not control the AP, so I don't know for sure. But I'm manually connecting to the 5ghz band, as both bands are named the same. AP is RT-AC66U with what I believe is multiple years old firmware.

ASUS Wrt RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.21045

RT-AC68U as media bridge on this firmware is still unstable for me. Did factory reset before and after flash, manually configured through web GUI. Just me, or others experiencing the same? It's dropping out several times a day for me.

    VPNFilter Malware

As stated several times in this thread, the attack vector is still unknown. VPNFilter is the outcome of an attack. The attack might be launched from LAN side. If thats the case, disabling access from WAN would not help you.

    Asus RT-AC66U (not B1) v3.0.0.4.382.50470

I'm going to perform a firmware update on a AC66U I beleive haven't been updated in many years. I don't have access to the router yet, so I don't know the actual firmware version. I've tried to find info regarding this, but have not come to a conclusion yet: Can I go straight to latest...

    RT-AC3200 Current Official Firmware Thread (3.0.0.4.382.50624, 180601)

Thanks for sharing your experiences with latest fw guys! I finally went for it myself. Been jumping between official and Merlin, but I think I'm going to stay on the official one for a good while now.
