    Memory on RT-AC86U

While there are clearly some reliability problems with the AC86, you only hear about the ones that fail. There are still plenty of them out there working just fine. I think as long as you have a warranty, @Tech9 's advice is sound: since you don't need an AX router just yet, use the AC86 for the...

    Memory on RT-AC86U

Right, I started out with some light file sharing and quickly moved that to a Raspberry Pi. The USB is for Entware, and I do have a fair number of add-ons.

    Memory on RT-AC86U

I have two of these beasts, they are great! The nice thing is as "HND" architecture they can run all the new features, like cake (Quality of Service). As for memory, it is completely normal to run just short of 100%! Mine routinely has only 32 MB free and runs great. But also I believe it is a...

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

Well look at that, it's dead, Jim... > /opt/etc/init.d/S33vnstat check Checking vnstatd... dead. I used the command to start, and got this: Sep 5 10:13:58 AC86U-MAIN vnstat: Starting monitoring for interface eth0 Sep 5 10:13:58 AC86U-MAIN vnstatd[25058]: vnStat daemon 2.7...

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

Hi everyone, my vnStats are stuck after a reboot again. This time I had the time sync enabled, and it appears that part worked, but still my stats are not updating. I have the latest version, 2.0.1. This shows the problem, stats as of 10am, data only goes up to 5am when the reboot happened. I...

How to setup Pi-hole to work with Merlin?

That didn't work because 127.0.0.1 is localhost, i.e. local to your raspberry pi, and unbound is running on your router. Assuming you kept the default port for unbound manager, that configuration should be working. The charts and graphs should give you an idea. As others have mentioned...

    Solved Generate Site Map?

I agree! It would be great if it could replace/augment the left-hand navbar. The current UI is kind of clunky where you have to pick the category and then the sub-tab. Two clicks at least to get most places, and four to switch between pages. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to instantly switch...

    CakeQOS CakeQoS-Merlin v2.0.0

I've been running it for so long I forgot it was beta :D No problems at all, I'd say ship it!

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

Sorry to repost, but I am still seeing this (now up to 11515% over!). Will this reset at the end of this month?

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

See this post: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/ntp-boot-watchdog-script.71069/ Basically it will pause other scripts from running until NTP is up. Which in turn should help avoid the vnstat error I saw: May 5 00:05:25 AC86U-MAIN vnstat: Starting monitoring for interface eth0 May 5 00:05:25...

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

Oh, that's why I couldn't find it, all part of the YazSuite™ Thanks!

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

Actually, one minor glitch. I changed my limit from 1000 GB to 1.0 TB, and now see this: You have used 2535.00% (25.35TB) of your 1.00TB cycle allowance; the next cycle starts on day 1 of the month. I have actually only used 24.35 GB.

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

I upgraded to 2.0 with no problems, but found I haven't been recording stats since July 4! ARG! (Well, this is a backup for normal bandwidth stats, so not a huge loss, but I was surprised) Found this in the log following a reboot: May 5 00:05:25 AC86U-MAIN vnstat: Starting monitoring for...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.3 beta is now available

Since you're new, what @octopus means is Merlin will list any new GPL baselines in the changelog. Since there is nothing listed, that means no change. If you look at the changelog (https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/changelog) and search for GPL, you can see the last update was in 386.2 to GPL...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.3 beta is now available

Hi @dave14305, I used your advice over in post https://www.snbforums.com/threads/merlin-dnsmasq-pi-hole-accurate-device-names-how-to.69096/post-649388 I'm wondering how this would change with the VPN configuration. It sounds like it would still work except perhaps you'd want to send all clients...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.3 beta is now available

Dirty update from 386.2_6, AC86. A typo and awkward wording in the VPN Server initializing message: Initialinzing the settings of OpenVPN server now, please wait a few minutes to let the server to setup completed before VPN clients establish the connection. Otherwise everything is working as...

YazDHCP YazDHCP - feature expansion of DHCP assignments (increasing limit on the number of DHCP reservations)

I agree, I like YazDHCP since it adds the ability to save/restore the static mappings while still maintaining the usefulness of the WebUI configuration and icons. Otherwise there's no good way to save/restore the settings (it is technically possible with nvram parameters, but not straightforward...

    Cake bandwidth configuration

Thanks Dave! Ultra-nerds represent! (My friends think I am an ultra-nerd for running custom firmware on my router, how little they know of nerdom ;))
