    VPN to remote device?

Do you add custom scripts to OpenVPN? Or do you just use GUI to set things up? I remember searching about China's firewall and it said that China runs DPI to block normal OpenVPN. By local devices, do you mean accessing it from file explorer(network part)? In that case, try typing \\x.x.x.x...

Is this a bug on Asus firmware? WAN disconnections

Not sure if this is what they mean, but you can try going to Traffic Analyzer -> Statistics -> Off.

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.65 Beta is now available

Does it means that I can set AB-Solution to send me firmware upgrade notification as well as regular stats? In that case, I look forward to getting AB-Solution 3.1. When do you expect it to come out?

    VPN to remote device?

What's your settings? How did you manage to bypass China's DPI engine? I am using OpenVPN with Push LAN to clients enabled. My VPN client can access devices connected to my router. For example, I can connect to my WD NAS interface by 192.168.x.x(static IP), and as I remember my devices IPs...

Was my router's username and password hacked?

It's set to be off by default, but if you want to check, go to Administrator->System->Enable Access from WAN, change to "no" then apply. Since you are using Google DNS, you can turn on DNSSEC in LAN-> DHCP server-> Enable DNSSEC support-> yes->apply. If you are using AiProtection, you can use...

Norton Announces Its Own Wireless Router With Security Emphasis

That's great, thanks. I prefer reading detailed reviews from Smallnetbuilder rather than other reviewers such as PC Magazine. I also look forward to you sharing info before it comes out too. The bad thing about BitDefender Box is its LAN port which is not gigabit. I heard the BD Box 2 is...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.64_2 is now available

You shouldn't backup setting that may have problem. It's likely that you will get the same problems when you restore back that setting. Normally, I backup it when I fleshly configured the router(less likely to have problems) so that when there is a problem, I can get back to it.

Arris To Add McAfee Security Platform To Broadband Products

Just want to clarify, TPG now has 51% ownership while Intel has 49% as from the following link. But Intel pretty much still has it. Hope McAfee subscription will be cheaper than Norton one which is about $10 monthly. But I trust McAfee slightly less than Norton based on AV scores, yet I still...

Slow OpenVPN (server) on Asus AC68U

I was running my router as OpenVPN server not client, but thanks for a reply, I got it working some time ago, probably by either updating client or router firmware and do some setting. Now I am using Sinet which is 50/20Mbps download, upload, and I get full speed on my phone from outside home...

[Security] - reminder to stay secure

It seems like automated attack from other something like botnets, so the IPs come from any worldwide infected device(won't get specific IP as I got almost 10 different IPs worldwide). The worst cases would probably be that it uses your router as botnet to infect more people, help to launch DDOS...

AC88U or AC68U for second router?

http://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ac68u-rt-ac68p-rt-ac1900-rt-ac1900p.35759/ https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_RT-AC88U Only RT-AC1900P has the same processor clock as RT-AC88U. But RT-AC88U still has twice the RAM.

    80 WiFi devices create lag

Unless APs are for enterprise, it probably can handle 20 -30 each, so I'm not sure what type of APs you have spare, or how many. Ubiquiti AP seems nice if you only have one router and one AP right now as the price is reasonable. As you only need 2.4 GHz channel, that will do. If you can't...

FTC suing D-LINK for lax IP camera, router security

This is bad news for me as I have one D-Link IP Camera in my house. I didn't know that its app uses HTTP for password transmission, but I don't use common password for it anyway. However, I hope FTC go through security audits with all manufacturers so that most products will be more secure.

FTC suing D-LINK for lax IP camera, router security

The reponse is interesting. FTC now has to publicly show if D-Link products are vulnerable to such problems.

    80 WiFi devices create lag

I think setting will help just a little when there are 4 times of the number of devices maximum compared to number of devices when it starts to lag. I think business-grade access point designed to handle lots of devices is your solution. Since most of them are on 2.4GHz, it won't be too...

Was my router's username and password hacked?

Kapok blacklist now makes sense to me. Baidu troubled me badly, its apps are, most of the time, not malware, but PUP, which can avoid detection by most antivirus. So now I have both McAfee(use it as it costs less than $20 a year for unlimited devices, and not too bad detection rate) and...

Was my router's username and password hacked?

I didn't use default admin username. In fact, my username also has capitalized characters which the attacker has that info too as seen from my logs.

Was my router's username and password hacked?

Yeah, I believe not many people will have WebUI opened to WAN, but 4 reports in a week are not that small in population. However, if you have sum all questions up, we would be happy to answer it if any want it. They manage to restart the service before authentication takes place?

Was my router's username and password hacked?

I think one of the other three said that HTTP was never used. I also have not login to my router from WAN through HTTP, but in any case, I will just use OpenVPN. If they had disable it or bypass it, would they get our credential? In our cases, they got our credentials, not sure if it before...

Was my router's username and password hacked?

The attacker, in my case, had access to my admin username/password as logged when they accessed SSH through WAN. There was no failed attempt at all, and username I use is not default "admin" either.
