  2. DarkKnight75

Brand new RT-AX86U, slow wired ports (more accurately, slow speedtests)

Well..the crappy n66u i got rid ran 7 years without issues...ill take my chances. Yep and one of those microcenters is in Michigan..lol

  4. DarkKnight75

Brand new RT-AX86U, slow wired ports (more accurately, slow speedtests)

Well..I'm in the minority cause my ac86u never exhibited any of those issues since I purchased in 2019.
  5. DarkKnight75

Brand new RT-AX86U, slow wired ports (more accurately, slow speedtests)

I disagree...3 new ax86u setup with stock firmware..factory reset..and configured with stock settings similar to my ac86u. How do you know asus didn't produce a batch batch of units?
  6. DarkKnight75

Brand new RT-AX86U, slow wired ports (more accurately, slow speedtests)

I also tested without operating in 160mhz channel and no change as far as stable ax86u.
  7. DarkKnight75

Brand new RT-AX86U, slow wired ports (more accurately, slow speedtests)

Typo on my part.. the other reason I'm glad I returned it is because of all the marketing BS. My Note 20u and s7 are wifi 6 capable...only supports 80mhz not 160mhz so pointless from my standpoint since speeds were no different when connected to my ac86u. The only + was quad-core and...
  8. DarkKnight75

Brand new RT-AX86U, slow wired ports (more accurately, slow speedtests)

For the short time the ax86u was working...160ghz only connected my laptop, not my note20u or s7 tablet.
  9. DarkKnight75

Brand new RT-AX86U, slow wired ports (more accurately, slow speedtests)

Well...we can agree to disagree all the day...yes in the end, the ac86u is performing to my expectations.
  10. DarkKnight75

Brand new RT-AX86U, slow wired ports (more accurately, slow speedtests)

I've been in IT industry for 20 years and believe me, a product that's not performing based on manuf specs as I experienced with those 3 units is faulty in my book. I've done my share of troubleshooting outside this forum and my setup was as stock as it gets. As I've stated, never seen this...

Brand new RT-AX86U, slow wired ports (more accurately, slow speedtests)

I actually returned 3 ax86u due to kernel cpu crash within 2 to 3 days of using stock asus firmware. Speeds were the same as my ac86u and also my two ax devices were connecting at 80ghz instaed of 160ghz. All 3 were rev 1.0 and think it's either my baduck or a bad run of serial numbers.

    AX86U sighting

i don't want to deal with Asus tech support to get a replacement since I'd probably have the same issue considering I went theu 3 new units. I went back to my reliable ac86u that i had for 2 years. Im still shocked that this happened to all 3 units. All the best with your ax sure you'll be fine.

    AX86U sighting

I think so, but i really wanted to upgrade. For now content with my AC86U. Likewise

    AX86U sighting

Like I said before, my ac86u (checking logs) never Yes all 3 I briefly had crashed and rebooted on its own.
  15. DarkKnight75

    AX86U sighting

Seems kernel time was off to system clock by some minutes..logs seemed to show full crash initializing itself going through startup checks etc...never seen it before with my ac86u. Just waiting on merlin 386.4 to upgrade my ac86u :)
  16. DarkKnight75

    AX86U sighting

I decided to try a 3rd time. It's either a bad batch or def my back luck. After setting up exactly like my AC86U, stock config (no usb drives attached) with Asus stock firmware, crashed again within the hour. I thought it may have been related to my 160ghz, but it's wasnt the case.
  17. DarkKnight75

In some dire need of assistance (AX86U)

Had similar issues with 2 ax86u routers...5ghz set to 160ghz and router crashed and rebooted after a day or so...lost wifi temporarily so went back to my ac86u.
  18. DarkKnight75

    AX86U sighting

Technically 3.. It's my bad luck...even the crappy n66u that I got rid of didn't exhibit this behavior..my ac86u hasn't exhibited this behavior...std config shouldn't cause the router to reboot (loose internet connections etc) and nothing attached to either of the 2 units I briefly had...I...

    AX86U sighting

Then in it defeats the purpose of me having it..when i setup ch 36 48 showed available..
  20. DarkKnight75

    AX86U sighting

Why?? My ac86u can run those speeds...the ax is supposed to run at 160ghz...not dealing with it.
