    NETGEAR Announces Cybersecurity Wi-Fi Router

Security sells, even if most of the damage is being done on the server side. Beside $5.83 a month isn't too bad.

    NETGEAR Announces Cybersecurity Wi-Fi Router

Isn't it suppose to be based upon open source?

WPA3 vulnerable to hacks that steal Wi-Fi passwords

That's going to be one long extension cord. :-)

Marvell Exits Wi-Fi Business, Selling to NXP

Sounds to me like the maker community might be the most affected.

    A New Door Opens

Sounds like the Patreon model then. The fact there's a direct link between money and results. No whim of the ad-man. No blockers too. Just people putting their money where their mouth is.

TP-Link Adds $30 Range Extender To Wireless Line-Up

All that and no powerline. Using all avenues of available communication would make it more useful especially with their other products.

    Linksys Announces Wall-plugged Velop

Be nice if devices like this used power-line. If one's going to hog an outlet, get some mileage out of it.

Synology Announces Mesh Router With WPA3

That does seem to fit the "mesh paradigm" better. It's good that McMansions are getting more and bigger to sustain the consumer mesh movement. :-p BTW seems humorous for a "staff member" post to have a "report" button. How many turn you, into yourself?

    No More Social Media

    Better moderators here. ;-)

Ars: Startup Helm is taking on Gmail

And of course other forums are poking holes in the whole "well-meaning" idea.

    No More Social Media

Server side TT-RSS is the only one that seems easy to install and run, even if feature wise it's not all that. Everything is cloud and subscription.

    DS119j: Synology’s $99.99 Home NAS

Fine with me. That's how I got all my Pogoplugs. Grab a bunch of cheap SSDs, this "NAS", and have some fun.

    QNAP’s TS-332X Includes 10 GbE SFP+, Three M.2 SSD Slots

Quite a bit of time because the router and NAS market are price sensitive (gaming routers notwithstanding). Margins are going to be lower as well. nas

    QNAP’s TS-332X Includes 10 GbE SFP+, Three M.2 SSD Slots

I've seen consumer switches (POE and regular) with it. Handy when one has a lot of cameras, and a number of switches to link to the NAS.

NETGEAR Debuts An Expensive Gaming Router

$500 to get into the computer market, which these devices effectively are. And yes I believe as network speeds increase, and people are asking more of their connection, the hardware will need to keep up.

[Sponsored] Is Cloud-Based Network Management Right for You?

I could see the advantages with a private cloud without the vulnerabilities of a public one.

Netgear Armor Security Service Is Now Available

Except physical security will now hang it's hat on financial security. When was the last time one's router stopped working once the money ran out? Really, why can't the community do some of this, since an attack on one should be an attack on all?

Qnap Rounds Out 9-Bay NAS Series With Kaby Lake-Based TS-951X

Manufacturer's link is pretty clear what goes down there. If anything I'd be more worried about the software because it looks like all this is made for admins. Just shy of buying a server with matching OS.
