    thanks for checking. the 160MHz is definitely the difference. really weird that I can't get it. And if I select the control channel manually for the backhaul it doesn't even want to connect. odd. anyways, for the moment everything else is working ok.

    hmm interesting.. I haven't seen anything above 1.4Gbps on my wireless backhaul and the RSSI is -60 dBm which isn't bad. Does your say it's using a BW of 160Mhz? Mine has always been limited to 80MHz. Coul you check your hardware version please? It's on the bottom of the router (HW Vers.) mine...

    doh, was my mistake... my phone was connecting on 2.4Ghz and then switched to 5Ghz.. ugh, i feel like a fool ;)

    this is weird.. i did my very unscientific proximity test and the speed seems capped at 100Mbps.. If I change something, anything in the wifi settings and save then it jumps up to 300+Mbps. If I reboot the routers it starts off at 100Mbps again. very odd. I might do a factory reset later.

    hmmm seems there's a new firmware version available according to my router : 3.0.0.4.386_25524-g9977a2e not going to install it yet until it shows up on the website with some release notes.

    depends what you choose, i chose 160Mhz only at channel 100, the next couple of channels aren't DFS, but even if some are they're still usuable

    hmm, for some reason the wireless log is saying my backhaul bandwidth is 80Mhz even though it explicitly set to 160Mhz, go figure. [edit, after googling the issues seems like it's a common issue on a bunch of other asus routers.]
