    Release GT-AXE-16000 Firmware Version: 3.0.0.4.388_24403

That may require a ticket to Asus. I found another "weirdness" in the last 2 releases: if I select "use as both backhaul and fronthaul connection" on 5GHz radio#2, I can see 2 BSSIDs broadcasted by the same radio. That makes no sense in my mind - it's the same radio, same channel, same...

    Release GT-AXE-16000 Firmware Version: 3.0.0.4.388_24403

Not sure I'm following...you're talking about "Backhaul Connection Priority" on auto? And you also have an ethernet link between router and node? I would assume you don't have "Ethernet Backhaul Mode" on, cause that will only use ethernet link for backhaul. If you have a cable between router...

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24374 (2024/09/27)

It may be the 2 routers are seeing eachother at over 1G on wireless? I've seen that long time ago, when I had the node moved from AC to AX. That was the reason I didn't used auto - it was switching to a wireless backhaul and I didn't want to share 5GHz radio between clients and backhaul link...

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24374 (2024/09/27)

Both router and node I have are AXE16000. No problems whatsoever.

    Setup GT-AXE16000 before ISP install?

Keep those off! Defaults are off. They require explicit T&C to be approved. And that implies internet access. Most of today's traffic is encrypted. Some devices are doing DNS over HTTPS. So networking equipment is just a carrier and it makes little sense to try to use those type of "protection"...

    Setup GT-AXE16000 before ISP install?

Yes, you can. Especially if you know exactly what WAN settings will be required by the new ISP. You'll have to download the firmware to be able to upgrade it. Some of the settings may not work (like AiProtection) as it requires agreeing with some T&C. But that's not a big problem and anyway is...

GT-AXE16000 | Constant disassociation events | Intermittent reboots as well

Shouldn't be an impossibe task. 1E-C6-A5-54-25-85 is not a vendor specific mac address. So it should be a fairly new phone or tablet that's doing mac spoofing. So pick every single apple and android device and check the settings. And you'll find it. I do disablle mac randomization on each device...

GT-AXE16000 | Constant disassociation events | Intermittent reboots as well

Do you know what the device with that mac address is? It does connect and disconnect way too often, but I would spend time to understand the behavior of that device. Do you have an AiMesh or another AP on the same SSID? Or it's a standalone setup?

    From RT-AC5300 to TUF AX600

RT-AC5300 is end of life so no new firmware to fix any bugs. Moving away is a good path if one can afford. If you have AX clients, for sure you'll benefit from the bump in the protocol. Browsing speed will benefit by the increase in speed for AX clients, but not like you'd measure any...

Can i disable one of the 5G radios when I use wired backhaul?

You can. But why would you do that? Both 5GHz radios are working on different channels, it will not interfere one with another. And router+node will balance your clients between the 2. A bonus if you're in Europe is the higher channels can use more power than lower ones. So you'll get slightly...

Need help designing & building AIMESH system

Not an easy call considering you need backhaul to be wireless. Can you please define what "greater range" means for you? In 2.4, in 5 or in 6GHz? GT-BE98 Pro has only 1 5GHz radio but 2 6GHz radios. 6GHz will have shorter range, but it will do as a great backhaul - I would still favour an cable...

How to block YouTube - Router Asus GT-BE98 - Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_34372

Blocking sites at network level is becoming an impossible problem to solve. Dynamic domains, some country specific. Different IP spaces, also very region specific. And also DNS over HTTPS. Blocking it from a simple router became a no-go space. There's no way to win that war. An easier path is to...

Solved OpenVPN start cut 99% of my internet connection

I'm not sure if that setting is actually presented in client.ovpn file. It should not, I mean...it's easy to be vpn server decision and client will just follow. Client should only follow routes updated after the vpn session is established. So if default route (that's internet and it will include...

Asus GT-AXE16000 and Wake On Lan

I didn't check the specs for Asus Apex Encore. It may be the same problem? 2.5gbps NIC not actually being capable of WOL when working higher than 1Gbps? There's another topic https://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ax86u-wake-on-lan-doent-work-on-2-5gbe-port.79987/ Shooting in the dark here! I...

Solved OpenVPN start cut 99% of my internet connection

Basic OpenVPN configuration (not Advanced Settings) should have something like "Clients should use VPN to access" with 2 options "Local network only" and "Internet and local network". I have a ROG router and my interface is different. And yes, setting that needs changing is on the remote router.

Asus GT-AXE16000 and Wake On Lan

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000039085/ethernet-products.html Intel saying WOL and 10G are not friends sets a bit of a trend IMHO. Idea being - is the client that has to keep the interface up at 10G or, even better, be able to renegociate lower speed before PC is...

Solved OpenVPN start cut 99% of my internet connection

In the OpenVPN server on the router you have the option to tunnel LAN or everything. You don't need to tunnel everything, cause you're happy with the internet you have at home. So internet does not need to be encapsulated and "shipped" far away, just LAN bound traffic for the other side.

Asus GT-AXE16000 and Wake On Lan

You're saying the 10G interface goes down when PC is down. So clearly there's no way for magic packet to reach PC's NIC. Can you try and plug PC on a 1G link in AXE16000? I would guess that port will stay up even when PC is down. I would expect NIC to run a full renegociation and move to link...

Solved OpenVPN start cut 99% of my internet connection

I'm trying to understand and please let me know where I'm wrong. So you're connecting to a random place 300km away to a router acting as VPN server with a configuration you don't know (or share?). And you're doing speedtest and it's slow? If you disconnect from OpenVPN everything is good. That...

RT-AX88U Pro with 160Mhz - very bad experience

Yeah, future proof IMHO would be: buy clients and only after upgrade the network. Upgrading the network translates in spending premium now to be used later. I would return it and plan for the future while looking at what clients you own/plan to own. And write to your legal representative to open...
