[384.9_Alpha - builds] Testing all variants.

He wasn’t asking the developer if there was an issue. What’s the point of the thread, if you can’t ask questions? It seems you know it’s an ongoing issue, then answer his post and explain. That’s what helps the developer.

I think this behavior is normal? @skeal explained this to me once, but can’t remember what he told me. Maybe he’ll reply here and explain.

Is Merlin more secure and better performing than the stock firmware?

Hi Rob, I have the same router as you and Merlin runs great on it. Check out just this one post from RMerlin and you get a real sense how security minded his project is: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/release-asuswrt-merlin-384-6-is-now-available.47941/page-36#post-433712 I would...

    2018 in review

I was deciding between an Asus and Netgear router just over a year ago. I went with Asus, because of Merlin’s firmware. 150,000 unique users. I’m one of them. Hopefully Asus is thankful that this awesome project generates so much interest and many sales of their routers. I specifically like...

Smooth upgraded right over 384.7_2. 15 hours of uptime. All devices have stayed connected. Great alpha build. Thank you, @RMerlin!

    Asuswrt-Merlin 384.8 is now available

Hi Bill, Not really. After you upgrade and before you login into the router GUI again, clear your browser cache. If you notice any weirdness after the upgrade, then do a reset. You should be good. I just upgraded from this version, to 384.9 alpha 1 and no issues.

Unless Asus produces new firmware for that model, there’s nothing Merlin can update.

Try turning off Universal Beamforming under professional settings. Leave ac beamforming on. Set 5ghz channel to Auto and channel bandwidth to 20/40/80. I have Auto set on 5ghz only. All my devices have been connected for over 6 days, since I upgraded to 384.8_2 and factory reset. Worth a try.

Is this the reboot behavior where the countdown timer hangs and it eventually refreshes to the login page? If so, it has happened here. @skeal gave me a tip to prevent this. Reboot from the “System Log” page. I haven’t experienced the hanging issue since.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 384.8 is now available

Anton, Think that’s WTFast. It was re-enabled in 384.8: Fixed a bug in curl causing some applications to crash on non-HND models. This fixes IFTTT and WTFast (which has been re-enabled, however remains untested)

Yes. Flash firmware, then factory reset. Manually input all your settings. Do not restore a backup.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 384.8 is now available

You should be fine. You’re making a big jump from 380 to 384, so it’s strongly recommended you factory reset after you upgrade and then enter all your settings manually.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 384.8 is now available

If it’s working fine after the update, no factory reset is needed. If you see anything weird start happening, then factory reset.
