RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

Looks like new broadcom drivers for the AX58U might have been released as part of 386.4 https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng/commit/c9d2bb4d485ce869fbbd0c93102ccb0e9fd85f18 If those with previous crashes upgrade and find the issue resolved please let us know.

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

Yup. Still waiting for fixes. Earlier in the thread the version this problem started with was isolated and relates to newer/unstable Broadcom drivers (binaries that are not part of the open source project). I went back to 384.19 since 386 is not stable at this point and no new binaries have...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

I can get it to crash without any guest network running unfortunately. Thanks.

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

Another crash within 1 day of pulling a few features out of full buildout I did testing the difference between using guest network 1 and guest network 2. I could go back to my minimal config and keep building it up week by week until I find something but there have been no comments from the dev...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

I would be stable given I have done that. I also have 2 of these routers and it happens on either one I use :) This is the testing I had done weeks ago with a minimal setup that could crash it. Each build was a complete wipe and rebuild. + means stable for 7 days, - means crashed before 7...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

Here are my notes so far on what crashes it and what does not: All tests were using 396_3.2. Each week I added a bit more... Week 1: (stable 7 days) ---------------- lan:lan ip -ip address: 192.168.0.1 administration:system -router login name: [admin username] -new password: [new password]...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

As a long shot, I just put my whole configuration back on the latest stable build, and moved my guest network from guest network 1 to guest network 2 using a complete rebuild form the ground up again. Unfortunately, it still crashed with "Process bcmsw_rx (pid: 239, stack limit = 0xd77a8210)"...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

I have never enabled IPv6 on my configurations but I have used guest network 1. For the past 3? weeks I have slowly been building up my router (feature by feature) to see what might crash it on the latest build since I had previously identified the problems starting with build 386.2_6 (where...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

Thanks for the data point. I am running some tests now to try to isolate the cause (whether it be router feature or client pattern). What features would you change from a stock reset of the RT-AX58U (ie. channels from auto->specific?, guest network(s)?, jffs scripts runnable?, etc?). Also, do...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

If you make it to 7 days I would be interested in a list of changes to defaults and whether that same configuration fails on the latest stable build.

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

Agreed on most of the points above. I did not notice it for a while because the crash would happen overnight a lot. But when it started crashing in the middle of business meetings I started to get more serious figuring out what was going on. I truly believe it is the Broadcom driver update in...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

OK. I will forgo running scripts and just check it every 24 hours to see what happened if I don't notice the reboot during daily use.

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

The next test I will preform this weekend will basically be to use the latest stable 386 build (I don't want to introduce any problems by using the alpha) with the following configuration: Full WPS reset as per @L&LD lan:lan ip ip address: 192.168.0.1 administration:system router login name...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

Totally :) I started by focussing on what changed when the testing showed the instability started https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng/compare/386.2_4...386.2_6. Time to go further down the rabbit hole when time permits me.

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

I will definitely try to to minimize my setup even more but at some point I don't see the point of using the router if I can't take advantage of basic features like DNS and Guest networks. Since all these features (and more) worked quite well in older builds I am not sure how my router is "not...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

yup. do you see anything that might be a culprit in the minimal setup I do after a flash and hardware reset/jffs format: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ax3000-crashing-every-few-days-in-bcmsw_rx-tried-hw-sw-reset-rebuilds-and-even-new-replacement-router.74503/post-717803

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

What commit in the alpha speaks to solving the Broadcom driver stability? Every build since 386.2_6 has been unstable for me so far. https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng/compare/386.3_2...master I am not against trying it but I want to understand why this has been recommended twice? I...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

I would bet that 386.2_4 would be stable because that was the build before the Broadcom drivers were updated as per the comparison links higher up in the thread. Either way a 384 base should work too.

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

Thanks but periodic rebooting does not seem to help. I tried that previously but did not mention it; so it is not like a memory leak. As far as test builds, I am not seeing any bcmdriver updates since the latest stable build so I am not sure that would help if the issues are with the...

RT-AX3000 crashing every few days in bcmsw_rx (Tried hw/sw reset/rebuilds and even new replacement router)

I agree with the principles you state. In the absence of any fix for broadcom sw drivers I can only look for workarounds to stay on the current builds which have security fixes. Outside of finding a work around I will need to stick with the 384 base until progress on broadcom drivers is made...
