And just to clarify further if you really wanted to be technically correct, its SU-MIMO vs MU-MIMO. Most people knew what I meant and you were simply being condescending or like to correct people. These forums are not as bad as irc freenode but that was silly. lol

I personally attacked noone and I expect nothing less from you. Anticipated for good reason. Throttling my account hoping I go away is shameful. Are you afraid I'm just gonna use another browser and ip address and not tip you off with my email? Don't worry I'll be gone forever. But I will...

    Why do I need 4 cores? (RT-AX86U)

ax88u for $400 and a low stock. insanity. I wonder if asus manufacturing is affected by covid or if they are just manufacturing too many models.

    Why do I need 4 cores? (RT-AX86U)

I doubt it. maybe if it was wifi 6. maybe my next doorbell in 10 years lol

    Why do I need 4 cores? (RT-AX86U)

I agree with your first paragraph because the same can be said when upgrading from the ac66u_b1 to the ax58u. Which goes to the op's point that the ax86u is overkill when the ax58u can be had for half or almost half the price. I got mine renewed for $125 can be had for $150 new. Regarding...

    Why do I need 4 cores? (RT-AX86U)

When you said separate cpu in another thread you basically just meant the wifi chip, which all the routers have. In fact the ax58u has the same broadcom 43684 chip but like another user pointed out it is software limited to 2x2 so asus can jack up the price on the ax92u. So saying the ax68u...

    Why do I need 4 cores? (RT-AX86U)

it probably is for most people. But the range on the ax58u is a huge upgrade form it which did help my doorbell connection. Other then that I just bought it for the same reasons, to feel cool having an ax router that really doesn't benefit me lol.

    RT-AC86U 2.4GHz problems

@chavo weird. have you tried enabling mac filtering? Or sometimes I would get this and to fix it i would go into the phone app and look down to see if the device was listed in the offline section and then choose the option to delete all the data for it and then try to connect again.

    RT-AC86U 2.4GHz problems

do you run ai trend micro, adaptive qos, traffic analyzer and an openvpn client at the same time on it?

    WAN DNS vs LAN DNS

on my asus router i put the pi-hole address in the lan dhcp settings. in the wan dns settings I just put any public dns. you could put in either one but putting in lan dhcp settings will differentiate between devices with their host name. If you put it in wan might just come up as the...

    Why do I need 4 cores? (RT-AX86U)

where are you getting the information about the dedicated cpu for the wifi radios?

    Why do I need 4 cores? (RT-AX86U)

probably not necessary in your case. Unless you on 1GB connection with all the features on like ai trend micro, adaptive qos, traffic analyzer and maxing out that bandwidth and want to keep a high and stable throughput. Its overkill in most situations. I can run 30 clients on my ac66u_b1...

Wifi scale works with AC66U_B1 not with AC86U

ax58u does not have offical aimesh 2.0 yet. not sure why. I do feel it is super stable and notice from changelogs it has less vulnerabilities that needed patching compared to almost every asus router and almost every update addresses stability and compatibility issues. They might be just...

    News RT-AX68U

Aren't you the one who brought up the fact you didn't like the idea of them selling 3 routers with the same hardware but simply feature limited by the software? I also think thats wrong. I'm not sure if their marketing is successful or not, only they would know. Just going by amazon...

ASUS AiMesh setup success! RT-AX88U & 8 RT-AX92U AiMesh nodes with 120 IoT devices in house

The ax88u is much better for 2.4ghz. Plus better to not use switches and just go into the router if possible. Other then Disabling smart connect and ax no idea what could help with iot devices disconnecting. Could be the power outages maybe use ups boxes. I don't find aimesh too stable in...

    News RT-AX68U

Merlin just confirmed what I already thought to be common sense and assumed. Its already been engineered and I didn't think it needed an explanation and distinction. But I'm glad he chimed in on the subject since his opinion is respected on the forums. I think L&LD already knew this too...

Wifi scale works with AC66U_B1 not with AC86U

do the two ac66u_b1's in aimesh mode have the same problems the single ac86u did? Or is it because you prefer to keep one on a separate network? I couldn't stand my ac86u and returned it after a month even though I had 90 days to use it lol. Worst experience I ever had with a router besides...

Is it better or worse to have IP reservation?

well that definitely saves any problems on the router. I use to always do it that way too. Still makes it easier when specifying a dns address sometimes. There can be the very rare case of it not giving back the same ip on occasion if it defaulted to dhcp but other then it being a more...

Thoughts about getting a Google Nest Hub

Depends on what devices you plan to integrate with it. Certain devices are more compatible with google, some more with amazon. You have to do some deep research though. What i would do is when you find the smart home devices you want to integrate with it, look at how many voice commands...
