    News RT-AX68U

For me it would be $125 more. And in my case I live in a smaller home in an area not that congested. i'm good with just one router if I had the money I'd get an ax86u since I don't really need aimesh. Otherwise I'd buy two ax58u's. But I'm sure your relatives would of felt the same way if...

RT-AX58U 2x2 or 4x4 for 5Ghz band? Does anyone really know what time it is?

So that thread merlin linked about the surprising bump in ac speed with the ax58u, which I've already attested to is much faster then the ac86u speed, is a reason to sell it? It sure surprised the hell out of me too lol. I don't have any devices that support 4x4 but those ax 5g speeds they...

Transformed their network from what though? Sure it also transformed my network upgrading from an ac66u_b1 but it was so unstable and unreliable I had to get rid of it for an ax58u which was a much better upgrade for me since I don't care about the vpn speeds. of course they aren't...

    News RT-AX68U

but are you doing it just for a cool tech experiment or to say you have the fastest router? Depends on if it actually benefits your network. the ax58u at least improved the range to my doorbell over the ac66u-b1 from poor signal to good but thats the only benefit i got from it besides possibly...

    News RT-AX68U

S Same could be said for the ac86u on paper. so maybe you are right Asus is liars. because in real life the ax58u blows away the ac86u in my environment, especially at long range especially the 2.4ghz. and again, all the ax and mu-mimo stuff depends on if your devices support them...

Which is lower then then the ax58u 5ghz. I already assumed thats why they conveniently left it out lol. That ax55 you mentioned is quadcore which i'm sure factors into it's price. @SoCalReviews i got my ax58u for literally half the price of an ax86u. Which is over 3 months of internet...

you're one of those people lol can you tell me where to sell my old router? Cause I don't know anyone who wants to buy it.

I guess some people just have money to burn.

Should I get the ASUS RT-AC86U or GT-AC2900

I believe a major factor was enabling these features while running a vpn client. IMO, thats why there is so many reported problems with that router since most people were buying it over other routers specifically for vpn use. In most cases not all. But alot of the problems I had were...

Should I get the ASUS RT-AC86U or GT-AC2900

its sure is nuts. Instead of returning it I would of preferred to take a sledge hammer to it and light it on fire then watch it get crushed in the garbage truck. lol Not only that but on paper the ac86u should have faster speeds. but it wasn't even close. Makes asus spec sheets bogus...

Should I get the ASUS RT-AC86U or GT-AC2900

I doubt it would be much different, its the same exact hardware and the firmware would get less attention for stability and gaming then a rog device most likely. They still have their own forums lol. The 2.4ghz problems have not changed at least with my 2020 model i just returned. I was...

    Upgrade from AC66U_B1?

I returned the ac86u cause it was a horrible experience. A month long nightmare with a syslog riddled with errors. it would crash and reboot, would lose 2.4ghz wifi. My ax58u I settled on blows it out of the water in 2.4ghz range and general stability.

    News RT-AX68U

Aren't they the same form factor? We talking a tri core router vs a dual core router. I think time will tell. if its as buggy as the ac86u or has the same short life span we will know why it only costs $100. lol If the ax68u is as stable and long lasting as the original and legendary...

Should I get the ASUS RT-AC86U or GT-AC2900

I got an ax58u after I returned the ac86u. its runs great. A vpn client on it with merlin firmware has no issues. I use PIA, but I'm not sure why the above user would have problems with his vpn depending on the router model. they all pretty much handle them the same. ALthough the ax86u...

WiFi 6 - When to make the move?

I just upgraded from an ac66u_b1 to a refurbished ax58u. the wifi range is phenomenal on it . it changed my poor signal to my front doorbell to a good signal. I also have a couple wifi 6 mobile devices that will supposedly use less battery. But like others said if your network is...

    Upgrade from AC66U_B1?

I have had the same experience as you. i have had a rock solid ac66u_b1 for just as long. tried the ac86u which was a bad experience so returned it and now using ax58u. Got a refurbed one for $125. Half the price of a new ax86u. I only have a 300MBs connection so can't see how the ax86u...
