    AC86U EU AC Adapter

Agreed. But still check -- some older ASUS routers used a skinnier plug. And my ASUS laptop supply wouldn't help at all -- it's a USB-C.

    Asus Merlin RT-AX86U

    Thank you.

    AC86U EU AC Adapter

AND the same diameter output plug.

    AC86U EU AC Adapter

Look at the input specs for the adaptor -- most of them already accept 240VAC so you would only need to change the plug or use a physical plug adaptor.

Buying advice for AX-router with Merlin-support

You will get the experience of several dozen active Merlin users in the Merlin forum. I would go with the AX86S but that's just one opinion. Come on over and hear the rest! https://www.snbforums.com/forums/asuswrt-merlin.42/

It took 48 hours, but the mystery of the mass Asus router outage is solved

Roger that. I have a Canon color inkjet and a Brother monochrome laserjet nad they do do whatever I ask of them. No malarkey!

It took 48 hours, but the mystery of the mass Asus router outage is solved

As a data point only, we have several dozen ASUS routers at 30+ locations around St. Louis (plus 3 at home) and have no reports of failures. Of course, I habitually install Merlin before we place them...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

Roku streaming boxes also do that, as will some Wi-Fi enabled appliances..

    New House, new Wifi

Definitely 5GHz. Not using the Spectrum test, this is the actual Ookla site as accessed from an Android mobile.

    New House, new Wifi

Yes, 1 glass window, 1 brick wall, 5GHz, Samsung S10+.

    Detachable antennas

How do you determine which antenna any given radio is using?

    New House, new Wifi

Half right. One brick wall in the path, glass window at the other end. The Wi-Fi in Samsung mobiles is head and shoulders above iPhones.

    New House, new Wifi

Smart move to avoid mesh if possible. Your house sounds similar in size to mine -- about 44 feet x 40 feet by 3 stories -- which was built in 1902 and thus has very thick walls covered with plaster over wire mesh. It is working fine with an RT-AX86U (as a router) on the 2nd floor in my office...

Donation Thread no longer open to posts

A very humanitarian, inclusive attitude. Thanks for all you do, and to those who create nifty add-ons to your product.

    Changing ISP IP Address

Thanks -- I routinely use "Normal" because I read here some time ago that "Aggressive" was considered by some ISPs as, well, "aggressive." But I will make sure I continue to do so:cool:.

    Changing ISP IP Address

Yeah, just my shortcut way of saying "the configuration of the hardware or software supporting the address" might be corrupted. Great idea! Thanks!

    Changing ISP IP Address

Not exactly a router issue, but the people in this forum know more about router-like problems than anybody else. A couple of days ago my LAN suddenly had no Internet access. I tried rebooting the AX-86 router, no joy. I tried rebooting the Spectrum modem, no joy. I called Spectrum and the nice...

    Ac86u vs ax86u vs ax86u pro

Yet it still has better range, according to SNB's tester.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 6 models

Thank you, @kernol. Some users here forget that @RMerlin is doing all of this work as a hobby, on his own time. His work does in fact improve the ASUS firmware as well as he (and the many beta testers here who ensure that a wide variety of environments are included) suggest improvements that...

Wi-Fi channels - the ongoing debate?

Still just like a thermometer. -5 degrees is warmer than -10 degrees. That's why the phrase "least negative" is useful.
