Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

I didn't realize how outdated I am. Currently on 386.5_2. Do you think it'll be ok to dirty flash to the latest?

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2 is now available

Manage to go from 384.17 to 386.2 without a hitch on RT-AC86U with a clean flash. Cake > WAN Packet Overhead: Does anyone know which to use for fiber (Verizon Fios)? 2.4ghz: I've had the dreaded 2.4ghz problem for a while: Full bars, can see MAC address for 2.4ghz, using 20mhz, have set a...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

Hi all. The earliest ones I've seen are 384.19 > 386.1 at the beginning of this thread, and subsequently 386.1 >> 386.1_2 or 384.19 > 386.1_2. I'm on 384.17. Do I need to flash every version? Should I do a factory reset before dirty flashing? I used to be much more trigger happy flashing the...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.13 is now available

Ok I see what you mean. I haven't tried every single channel but I've tried a few. I'll give every channel a shot but tbh I'm doubtful. It's not even a speed issue, I'm having problems even seeing the SSID — I manually entered the SSID into my Kindle and PS4's setup, otherwise their scans don't...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.13 is now available

Hi, I've tried that. I've also done a site survey using the router's built-in tool. The odd thing is it shows the signal strength as very strong. Here's a screen cap from earlier:

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.13 is now available

@Mutzli , @Grisu thank you for your suggestions again. I've tried all of them and unfortunately my 2.4ghz is still bad. It seems very random or the connection is too tenuous. The PS4 is seeing the SSID. It randomly gets an IP sometimes, and other times not. Very rarely, it'll get an internet...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.13 is now available

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I had a look in the professional tab and universal beamforming and explicit beamforming were enabled so I disabled them. The rest are already disabled. With those changes, my Kindle seems to connect easier and it's showing 2 wifi bars, marginally better...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.13 is now available

Thanks for the suggestion. The 2.4ghz SSID popped up and I managed to connect to it. But the signal is very weak and I'm sitting next to the router. The Kindle would also lose the wifi connection completely. And subsequent attempts, I don't see the SSID and can't connect. EDIT: I just tested my...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.13 is now available

For the first time with a Merlin firmware, my Kindle can't see the SSIDs and manually setting it up still doesn't connect. Can someone suggest how I should troubleshoot?

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.13 is now available

I went from Merlin on N66U to a POS SmartRG router provided by my ISP. Put up with it for a few months until I got an AC86U off Ebay. First thing I did was a factory reset and loaded up Merlin. So glad to back!!

Smart RG SR515AC Router: Port 80 redirects to router admin

Understood, I guess the one I had my eye on is now superseded, glad you updated me ! I've pretty much exhausted the internet with my problem and I've found a lot of discussion with the same port 80 issue so I'm about to give up. Last night I tried enabling HTTP(S) WAN access, changed the port...

Smart RG SR515AC Router: Port 80 redirects to router admin

FYI just saw this deal on slickdeal.net: $160 after coupon code, before tax. I think I made a mistake, the router I had my eye on was the RT-AC88U which apparently is the AC3100 you mentioned!

I've had my eye on the AC86U for a while but I'll check out the AC3100! Thank you again!!

Smart RG SR515AC Router: Port 80 redirects to router admin

Which Asus router do you think is a good replacement for it? I've been so out of the loop relying on the n66u!

Smart RG SR515AC Router: Port 80 redirects to router admin

Thank you very much for the assist, I'm thankful I didn't have to troubleshoot alone! I wish I was still on my trusty RT-N66U with Merlin but it couldn't handle the gigabit connection optimally when I tried it :(

Urgh, have I exhausted what I can do with this POS router?

Smart RG SR515AC Router: Port 80 redirects to router admin

There is this panel in my router admin that seems to offer what that thread discusses: http://192.168.1.1 resolves to https://smartrg.sonic.net/prime-home/control-panel/login?device=3C9066:3C90667EEA30 and gives me the Forbidden error. https://192.168.1.1, the browser tries to perform a TLS...

Smart RG SR515AC Router: Port 80 redirects to router admin

Just to expand on this, when I enter 192.168.1.1 into the browser, it resolves to https://smartrg.sonic.net/prime-home/control-panel/login?device=3C9066:3C90667EEA30 and serves up that Forbidden error.

Smart RG SR515AC Router: Port 80 redirects to router admin

I haven't come across a setting that blocks access from WiFi, can you suggest the language to look out for? By 3/4G you mean cellular data? I'm definitely on WiFi since I'm on my laptop. However, I've confirmed my-domain.net is reachable and works on cellular data—it's when I'm on the internal...

Yeah I've done the reset about 4 times now trying to figure out this router.
