Smart RG SR515AC Router: Port 80 redirects to router admin

I spoke too soon. The static DNS entry only worked when I was hardwired to the router. The problem persist when I'm back on wifi! BTW when I try to access the router with 192.168.1.1, I'm blocked: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /prime-home/control-panel/login on this server...

Smart RG SR515AC Router: Port 80 redirects to router admin

Thank you so much for your response. I just tried the static DNS entry you suggested and it worked! I'm beginning to think there is a bug in this router's firmware. Under "Access Control", there's a setting for HTTP(S) WAN which is disabled and uses port 80 by default. After I set up my own...

Smart RG SR515AC Router: Port 80 redirects to router admin

Hi all, I'm desperate! I've googled, searched reddit, searched my ISP's forum (Sonic in Berkeley) and can't find a solution. Hoping this isn't as unique as it sounds and there's a solution. I have a my-domain.net hosted on my NAS. I've done all the reverse-proxying and I know for sure...

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

Thank you so much for the instructions! I just signed up for PIA and got it working fairly easily. Am now routing my Buffalo NAS traffic through the VPN. I'm running an RT-N66U though, will see how it holds up.

    Qnap 253a or 251?

Read a bit more and a new tidbit of information came up. It seems like Plex Media Server can only output to the network and not HDMI?! I had assume I'll be running PMS on the NAS. [EDIT: Read that KODI or XMBC also available on Qnap can output HDMI, newer versions of possibly Plex Home Theater...

    Qnap 253a or 251?

I've been using a Buffalo Duo Linkstation and PS4 so I think I'm accustomed to a level of ambient noise already! So just to confirm what I am thinking, if I'm connecting the NAS to a dumb TV for display, a 251+ ought to be sufficient for direct play. Direct play to a TV will not need any...

    Qnap 253a or 251?

Maybe I don't have to worry about transcoding at all. My plan is to connect the NAS to non-Smart TV via HDMI so the TV is a dumb display. Will the NAS be capable of direct playing to the non-Smart TV?

    Qnap 253a or 251?

I guess that's what I was hoping to avoid, having another device in-between. I feel very limited by the Apple TV because of the formats it plays and I was hoping a Qnap NAS can fix that.

    Qnap 253a or 251?

Thanks for your replies. Both 253a and 453a appears to use the same Intel Celeron N3150 Quad Core 1.6GHz. I hope this comparison chart works: https://www.qnap.com/en/product/contrast.php?cp[]=211&cp[]=195&cp[]=212&ref=product_overview With that in mind and if the N3150 cpu is the...

    Qnap 253a or 251?

Hi all, would like to seek your collective wisdom! Thinking of upgrading my Buffalo Duo Station. Besides storing files I'd like to stream movies to my TV or better yet, have it connected to my TV. I get the impression that both can do that with their HDMI outputs; but I'm not too familiar...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.55 is now available

Just upgraded to this. This is the best version in a long time, for my use. There is a spot in the apartment that always struggled and the only way to maintain a wifi connection is on 2.4 and even that eventually slows and drops out. Posting from there right now on 2.4 and the performance is...

    Extend RT-N66U with Airport Express?

Hi all. I did a search and I got the impression an Airport Express will only extend wifi network by another Apple product? Just want to confirm that or if anything has changed. I'm running Merlin 378.54_2 on RT-N66U. Thank you.

    Scheduling rebooting??

Hi I followed the above, but the cron job doesn't seem to be saved. I can see the script is still there. admin@RT-N66U-6AC0:/tmp/home/root# cru l admin@RT-N66U-6AC0:/tmp/home/root# cat /jffs/scripts/services-start /usr/sbin/cru a ScheduledReboot "0 4 * * * reboot"...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Apology in advance for the question but I am quite out of touch. I read this old reply: I'm trying to get the best Wifi performance/range on an RT-N66U. Currently running Merlin 378.52_2 and in a part of my apartment, I can only connect to 2.4 and it's really slow. Performance on 5 seems to be...

RT-N66U unable to utilize 300mbps Internet Service?

Great thanks! I wasn't sure what's an 'acceptable' drop off with wifi.

RT-N66U unable to utilize 300mbps Internet Service?

Oh sorry I didn't know that. I was testing from a Macbook Air. :D With that in mind are the speeds I'm seeing normal?

RT-N66U unable to utilize 300mbps Internet Service?

I think TWC recently upgraded my connection to 200/20. On Wifi next to my RT-N66U running the 374.43 fork of Merlin, I just got a Speedtest of 128.99/21.89. Is that considered normal for wifi (I understand it'll be impossible to get the max without a wired connection) ?
