    You can wait for ASUS to release GPL so Merlin can compile for next release (wait who knows how long) or as bbunge stated, upgrade to latest Asus stock firmware.

    Odd..not on the US site...in any case staying with current firmware as they fixed the ability to remove offline clients via the Asus router app

    Merlin firmware is great...but i went back to stock cause Asus takes foreever to release open gpl code...btw the latest stock 81918 on my ac86u is running great.

    Updated today...smooth so far. AIP turned on, dirty upgrade.

    RT-AC86U - Awful router - Netgear wins

    No experience with Netgear, but after having my AC86u replaced under warranty its' been rock solid. Latest ASUS stock firmware is also rock solid.

    Going on 20+ days, so rock solid release coming from 45717.

    No complaints after 10 days of use (and counting) on my ac86u and def as stable as 45717...rock solid.

    No smarconnect 2.4ghz ch 6 20 5GHz ch 149 80..disabled the usual on 2.4ghz and 5GHz Running smooth for 8 days. Everyones environment is different so its about trial and error.
