    Sorry for the late update. I just test my another AC-68R with Merlin 378.52_2 firmware with OpenVPN enabled, I could get maximum connection speed via Speedtest connecting to different servers in the California.

    better than my case. I could not access GUI even I did a full rest, so I flashed back to Stock FW and DDWRT to solve the problem.

    I will try it again since I have 2 AC68s, one with Merlin build as my backup router, another one is DDWRT.

    Does Merlin and DDWRT have different OpenVPN client? I am currently on DDWRT, and I could get full speed via OpenVPN, but I could only get 50% speed if I use Merlin build OpenVPN.

    hmm, I am currently on DDWRT build, and I have also tested its OpenVPN client. I use the tutorial setup from PIA, and I get the full speed. (21.74 Mb/s DL, 1.84 Mb/s UL).

    yea, I use WAN port. I have just flashed to stock ASUS FW then DDWRT FW, and I have no problem to access GUI for a few hours. I hope this could solve the issue when I flash back to Merlin build.

    I didn't run VPN windows client, and i had reset the router to factory, so the openVPN was not set up. In addition, I have also attached the vpn windows client setup here. I will try to flash stock ASUS OEM firmware tomorrw to see if that can solve the problem.

    My router connects to an ATT modem/router having 192.168.1.254 as the getway. it has been this setup for more then a year. I am not sure if I could down clock to 533, and if I reset the router to factory, it will back to 800, 666 again. a few mins later, I could't access the GUI again.

    after I did the reset, and I check the nvram get clkfreq, it shows 800, 666 as default. I guess I did ddr configuration upgrade before. I am not sure if I could still access the router 30 mins later.

    yes, it still gives me black screen, and when I type something and press enter, I just get a new line with a blank bold underscore

    I use puTTY connect to 10.0.0.1 with port 80, it just gives me a black screen.
