AiMesh or repeater mode with an WiFi 6 (main) and WiFi 5 (secondary) router for extra WiFi coverage?

I've disabled and removed the RT-AC1900P node. It was slowing down the 5 GHz network majorly. I guess that would be because it was sharing the bandwidth since the backhaul was set to the 5 GHz radio.

AiMesh or repeater mode with an WiFi 6 (main) and WiFi 5 (secondary) router for extra WiFi coverage?

I've disabled the 2.4 GHz radio on the RT-AC1900P and it's connected to the AX82U on the 5 GHz band. I'm actually seeing the issue of having two strong 2.4 GHz signals in the same house, my devices that are close to the router in my bedroom, want to connect to the AC1900P on the 2.4 GHz band...

AiMesh or repeater mode with an WiFi 6 (main) and WiFi 5 (secondary) router for extra WiFi coverage?

How would I set that all up? Ethernet cable? WiFi? Also... you mean this? on both or just the one router?

    RT-AX82U support

Just found this... https://github.com/gnuton/asuswrt-merlin.ng Looks like a fork that supports my router. Should I use it? Has anyone else use this fork of Merlin?

    RT-AX82U support

I'm looking for the latest Merlin image for this router but I'm unable to find it. I'm looking here... https://sourceforge.net/projects/asuswrt-merlin/files/ Is Merlin even available for my router?

AiMesh or repeater mode with an WiFi 6 (main) and WiFi 5 (secondary) router for extra WiFi coverage?

Hi, My plan is to extend the WiFi coverage for the one side of the house. My main router is the new AX82U but I still want to use my AC1900P since it still works. I was thinking of using the AC1900P as an WiFi extender but I don't know if I should set it up as an AiMesh node or a repeater? The...

    Thoughts on RT-AX82?

Firmware.... do I stick with the stock Asus builds or toss on Merlin? My thoughts are... Merlin has the site survey, stock doesn't.

    Thoughts on RT-AX82?

The lights on the AX82 are sooo pretty!!! My internet seems to load up a bit quicker than with the AC1900P. Signal is a bit better too! I haven't been out of the house to test it off the property.... yet. It's raining, so I'll do it another day.

    Thoughts on RT-AX82?

I've just ordered the RT-AX82U to replace my RT-AC1900P (since it's entering EOL according to Merlin). Since it works perfectly, I'm not going to toss the AC1900P. The AX82U will be the main router to handle all the WiFi 6 devices in the house which are connected on the 5 GHz band and I plan to...

WiFi Router or switch to Mesh?

5 GHz even though it's a little weaker, just because there's way too many strong neighboring networks on the 2.4 GHz band that would cause a lot of connection issues.

WiFi Router or switch to Mesh?

The coax going to that one room that has weaker WiFi is currently using to provide OTA TV but I can disconnect it and just stream the antenna TV through my Tablo app on the Roku. If I decide to go with MoCa on that line, one adapter would be in the living room, then the other would be near the...

WiFi Router or switch to Mesh?

Well, the modem is located in the basement up against the south wall because that's where the coax comes in to the house from the street. The desktop is in the room upstairs and above from where the modem is. Between the desktop and the router which is located in a bedroom, there's a hallway. As...

WiFi Router or switch to Mesh?

I'm not sure what I should do. The laptop, printer, and the Roku that's over in the yellow area are able to maintain a stable connection but the WiFi coverage could use an improvement. Also, the wall that divides them to where the router is, is an outside brick wall. I'm unable to hard wire...

Merlin "End of Life" for 386.x firmware implications

Hi, I'm actually thinking of getting a new router because of this but I refuse to toss out my AC1900P since it still works perfectly. Got any idea what I should do? I'm thinking of making a WiFi bridge to expand my WiFi coverage. I guess I would be using Ai Mesh? My concern is if I get a WiFi...

Would any of this make my browsing more secure? (WAN DNS settings)

It's kinda neat that it shows you all that detail though. I wonder how you can do a side-by-side test of the built-in firewall and the Skynet addon. To me anyway, I guess the only real difference is the graphs, tables, and a log entry in the web UI.

Would any of this make my browsing more secure? (WAN DNS settings)

Well, according to the Skynet log, looks like it's picking up more. Unless it replaces the routers firewall or just makes it better.

Would any of this make my browsing more secure? (WAN DNS settings)

I suppose I could put SkyNet on. With, that, the router's default firewall, and AiProtect that would be a good combo. Not too sure what Unbound does. Read it a few times, still don't understand it. DNSCrypt encrypts the stuff that's sent out from the router, to the ISP? Yeah, I have Windows...

Would any of this make my browsing more secure? (WAN DNS settings)

Would any of these help? My main concern is keeping the remote attacks from getting in and we do online banking. So the more secure, the better.

Would any of this make my browsing more secure? (WAN DNS settings)

Under "WAN DNS Setting", there's these settings. Should I change anything to make it more secure? Stuff in ( ) means that's the current selected option. DNS Server: Auto Forward local domain queries to upstream DNS: Yes / (No) Enable DNS Rebind protection: Yes / (No) Enable DNSSEC support: Yes...
