Upgrade an Asus ac86u to a ax86u Pro or ROG GT-AX6000

Unfortunately WiFi seems to be the only option for me as I'm in a rented building and don't really want a really long cable across the house. I was thinking of using the ac86u as a AiMesh node if I was to get a new Asus router but it would probably have to be through a WiFi connection.

Upgrade an Asus ac86u to a ax86u Pro or ROG GT-AX6000

Hello! I've been wanting to upgrade my ac86u recently as I've just moved into a new house with 1gig internet. The ac86u can cover the whole house but the back bedroom that my brother works from home and games in could be better. Would the ax86u Pro or the GT-AX6000 be better for overall...

Asus 86U randomly having latency issues

Thanks for the update! It's looking like I may do a reset on my 86U if all is looking good.

Asus 86U randomly having latency issues

No changes have been made recently. Unfortunately I can't use a Ethernet cable because the router is too far and I'm in a rented house so I can't set it up properly. The wifi is fine most of the time, I have no ping issues. It's just every now and then latency goes crazy and I have to change a...

Asus 86U randomly having latency issues

Not entirely sure but I can say I am on fibre with Virgin Media here in the UK which uses the Hub 3. I have heard bad things about the modem. I hope it isn't that causing the issue because I've also heard Virgin won't do much about it. Would this really cause the latency issues from my PC to the...

It's enabled. Haven't touched any of the advanced settings.

Asus 86U randomly having latency issues

Hopefully a simple reset fixes it. I didn't bother resetting after updating the the latest firmware so maybe it's an issue with that.

Asus 86U randomly having latency issues

Oh, could this also be because I'm using a DFS channel? I don't know if it would cause these latency issues.

Asus 86U randomly having latency issues

For some reason on some days my latency in online games start to go to crazy high numbers while using my Asus 86U. I originally thought it was my internet but everything was fine. When I ping to the router on my PC and the numbers bounce up and down from 100 to 300ms. I don't know what causes it...

What addons are you all using?

I recently installed Diversion and Skynet for the first time and was wondering if I can just leave them at their default settings and be ok? Is there also a way to check to make sure everything is working as intended? I've heard Diversion takes a while to start blocking certain ads or something...

Which version of QoS to use for gaming

I've noticed when I put the iptables rule for my devices with the into the gaming class in FlexQoS all traffic on those devices were getting put into the gaming class which was high priority. The pc's that are used for gaming also stream things like Twitch and YouTube with some big downloads...

Which version of QoS to use for gaming

I think everything is set up! I had a quick look over at the main FlexQoS thread and saw that someone was using a similar setup but had ports 88 and 443 on their iptables rules for Gaming which I think are the main ports used in video games so I went ahead and added that too. Would this work ok...

Which version of QoS to use for gaming

Awesome thanks! Do I need to put in the /30 on the ip? Not sure what that is. I've set an ip to the devices on the router in the DHCP section, is that all I need to do?

Which version of QoS to use for gaming

Not really sure what I'm doing but is this correct? Just did one device for now.

Which version of QoS to use for gaming

We have three that are on most of the time. 2 of them being PC's and the other being an Xbox One. Cake seems to be ok but I sometimes get pretty big lag spikes (although it might be Virgin Broadband screwing up atm). Would bandwidth limiter be a good option for a house with multiple gaming...

Which version of QoS to use for gaming

I'm kinda tempted to try FlexQoS just to compare it to Cake with my speeds. Is there a recommended order for the traffic priority list for gaming? Or is the Gaming preset good enough?

Which version of QoS to use for gaming

I can hit up to 380mbps speeds when no-one else is using the internet in my house, so would I be better off with FlexQos over Cake in my case? Or does that just mean I wont be able to get over 360mbps with cake enabled?
