Potential heat issues (April's Fool on webui)

I take it then I've not be hacked just done over. I'm in the middle of a row with my wife now because of this. She told me not to put anything on the data stick and open the ports. Almighty row when she saw it. Dog house for me for god knows how long now. Bob.

Forced same password for LAN samba as WAN FTP?

Right I've just upgraded to .40 and got everything working - nearly. In the previous firmware (36_beta1-sdk5) I had complex passwords for user accounts on WAN FTP and simple ones for LAN samba. It now seems if I change the FTP password it changes the samba one also. Am I doing something...

Update firmware or not, that is the question

Thanks guys. I take your points and I'm grateful for the method advice. I can see for enthusiasts it is obviously the right move but I just want it to work which to be honest it already is. So no security reasons then. Cheers, Bob.

Update firmware or not, that is the question

I would appreciate opinions or advice on this. Since christmas I've been using 374.36_beta1-sdk5 on my RT-N66u. It works very well indeed, the only issue I know about is dropping connections to our kindles but everything else is fine. Reading the .40 thread, it seems many people are...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.39 is out

I get this all the time with all 3 of the kindles in our house. The laptops, iPads and phones are fine but the kindles disconnect together and only a router reboot will get them to connect again. This happens regardless of the Merlin version installed. 6 hours is about the limit before all...

Must say first off how grateful I am for your time patience and help. Cherokee is running on a data stick plugged into the back of an rt-n66u. It is formatted as ext2. [TUTORIAL]CHEROKEE web server through optware

Thanks. Turns out you were correct it was a problem using control c. I can now enter admin. Do you know what a realm is? I'm trying to add authentication to a folder on the Cherokee server and it keeps insisting on a realm name but everything I try it says no to. I assume there is one...

Access JFFS via samba or FTP?

I do have ssh enabled and use putty for commands etc.. I'm afraid I still don't understand. Is there a way to see files on the Jffs , pull them into an understandable and familiar editor and save them back? I'm grateful for people's answers but it does seem to be cryptic night. <smile>...

Access JFFS via samba or FTP?

Thanks but I don't understand. That software seems to do FTP and sftp, does that mean you pull down files from the Jffs area? If so, what do you use for an address/username/password?

Access JFFS via samba or FTP?

Is this possible? I've just had my first dabble with Jffs which worked fine but I had to use nano which I found as a Linux idiot to be truly awful. I would dearly like to see and edit what is on there in something more familiar. Can anyone advise? Cheers, Bob.

Thank you both for trying to help me, it is appreciated. Like all experts though I don't think you guys realise how much you know and take for granted. I don't have a any clue what to do with the information you have given me. I presume I have to type something into putty which will save a...

    Switching from 3.0.0.4.374.34_2-sdk5 -> 3.0.0.4_374.39_0 : any special steps?

Yes, same here. Having to type in all the dhcp reserves and mac filter settings is a couple of hours of time gone. I pretty sure there is a way to get those settings out as a couple of files which can be put back in after upgrade but I can't find a tutorial that is basic enough to show me how...
