Just got myself RT-AC3100 - have quick question

Hey Jim, thank you for your reply. I'm also having high hopes for this "little" monster, but to tell you the truth, if it perform at least as good as my old and super trusty RT-AC68U, I will be more than happy. That router was rock solid piece of hardware (at least for me). I've had some Netgear...

Just got myself RT-AC3100 - have quick question

Thank you so much for your input, greatly appreciated. Yes, before RT-AC3100 I had my trusty RT-AC68U with latest Merlin firmware. Rock solid, never even had problems with that router... well, until completely died :( I was just wondering if someone with AC3100 and Merlin had any experience to...

Just got myself RT-AC3100 - have quick question

I just managed to grab the last one of the shelve in my local BestBuy. BestBuy Canada is currently having Labour Day sale, and I've found RT-AC3100 for $279.99 CAD (not refurbished, brand new). Had some store credit from before, and basically paid this router $120 CAD only. I believe it was a...

    [Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.68 is available

Just chiming in to bump that post #42. It seems rather like important issue: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/release-asuswrt-merlin-380-68-is-available.40761/page-3#post-342683

[Beta] Asuswrt-merlin 380.68 Beta is now available

I started getting this flashing exclamation point in the top right corner of the UI. Clicking on CHANGE NOW does nothing. Screen flashes promptly, with no change applied. Can someone shed some light on why am I getting this? Thank you!

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.67 is now available

Thank you for this info. The only thing this dummy (myself) still doesn't understand, is this part: "...Also use freshjr qos script 1.9..." Have no idea how to use it :(

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.67 is now available

I've had similar question earlier in this thread, but haven't received any replies: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/release-asuswrt-merlin-380-67-is-now-available.40191/#post-335911

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.67 is now available

Also, on another note... I see one of the changes in this new firmware update is regarding Web UI image sizes and their optimization. I just took Merlin logo from the top of my router page, and played with compression. I managed to get it down to 4 Kb (from original 8 Kb). Loss in quality is...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.67 is now available

I know this might sound annoying to some, but I still hope there will be some good souls out there to explain this QoS subject to this beginner :) I've noticed there are 3 options for Queue Discipline under QoS menu (sfq, codel and fq_codel). Do I need to keep it on sfq as it is by default, or...

AC68U Can't write to my external drive

This is very useful info and of course always good to know. Thank you for sharing it. Cheers!

AC68U Can't write to my external drive

Since you failed to mention your computer configuration, I can only assume at this point. In case you are using Apple computer, you can read, but you can not write to NTFS formatted drives. At least not without some third party applications for Mac computers. Again, I just assumed you are on Mac...

    [TOR] Asus website bricked?

Hi everybody! Not sure if it's any related, but for me asuscomm.com does not work whole day today (July 15th). I've tried my hostname at asuscomm.com and it does not work ( http://iplookup.asus.com/nslookup.php ). Anybody else having same trouble?

380.67 beta 2 - Redirect internet traffic on openvpn not working?

I believe this should be posted in this thread: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/beta-asuswrt-merlin-380-67-beta-is-now-available.39854/page-8#post-333813

    Buying new router

OK thanks! Yes, walking upstairs is the cheapest one, but unfortunately her sewing machines are all in the basement and she needs internet to see the orders and customization requests, so going up and down once wouldn't be difficult, but sometimes orders keep pilling up. It would get really...

    Buying new router

OK, thank you. To tell you the truth, at this point my wife would be happy even with slightly faster connection than dial-up :) All she needs is to check her orders, not much browsing other than that. No streaming, nothing major like that. At this point, she types something into Google page, and...

    Buying new router

I think they all (throughout the whole house) are RG-6 just by looking at the conductor (AWG) diameter. And these cables are pretty sturdy, kind of hard to bend... It's way thicker than one 12 foot cable I purchased at BestBuy. That one has such a thin conductor and it's marked as RG-59. I...

    Buying new router

Thanks. If I am not mistaken, that would be a lot more expensive option than going with some range extenders that I could plug into the power line wall plugs? I understand MOCA 2 would give a lot better signal (just by quick Googling about it), but those adapters seem pretty pricey around here...

    Buying new router

Sure, it has that mesh protection around the cable, but how would I use that in order to be able to use wired connection. It has to be RJ45 on both ends, correct? TV cable has only one line in the middle, and if I am not mistaken RJ45 has 8 connections.

    Buying new router

Hi Michael, Thank you for your input, greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, no any kind of lines inside the floors. The only one cable that's going throughout the whole building, is the TV cable, nothing else. Power lines of course. Yes, it came to my mind to use some signal extender or...

    Buying new router

OK, thank you so much once again! I will try to learn about all the settings in advanced settings section, and see if I can come up with something that would help. Just to add, all our devices (iPad mini, G3 and laptop) connect and keep strong wifi when we are on the same floor where the router...
