    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.52 is available

I can confirm with my RT-AC68U. Not a single issue, GUI was actually never faster and more responsive than after 52_2 installed. I did not even perform factory reset. I did it this morning after I've read many people suggesting factory reset is always a good thing, and I really started to love...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.51 is out

Completely agree. I know a good share of developers for Android/iPhone who gave up completely after people nagging and nagging for no good reason. They don't understand how difficult and time demanding this can be. I just can't believe they don't understand that if there is anyone in this world...

    RT-AC68U Temperatures

I am on latest Merlin 378.51 Both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz are always turned on. My RT-AC68U constantly sits at 50 °C - 53 °C - 73 °C. Slightly goes down or up sometimes, but that's about it. I do not have any external fan attached, both, router and my modem sit on my desk right next to my monitor...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.51 is out

And that's exactly why we all are here. I trust Merlin so much, for me personally, his builds are "the only official" ones :) This gentleman needs a medal, or even better huge recognition from Asus. They should put him on a payroll, and a good one while we're at that. He would have a lot more...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.51 is out

Thank you so much for your effort and dedication Merlin! Greatly appreciated! EDIT: is factory reset needed if upgrading from 378.50 (RT-AC68U)? Sorry, all good. Just found this inside your README-merlin.txt file:

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Thank you for your answer, but my question wasn't weather I need to perform factory reset or not... I know I have to and even if I didn't have, it's OK if I do it. It would just require me inputting all the settings manually once again, but that's OK. My question was this:

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Proper update Thank you Merlin for your dedication and enormous effort you're putting into these builds. So I understood I need to do Factory Defaults reset and reconfigure my RT-AC68U manually. I am currently on RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_376.49_6_cfeupd, so what would be proper update procedure in my...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

Oh, so it basically worked silently in the background. I still kind of wish there was at least some kind of notification that process was performed successfully. Oh well, we can't have everything I guess. Thank you Dave for updating on this subject. I know it's driving this thread off the...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

Thank you RogerSC! All good now, I understand how mtd-erase2 is handled differently than what it was with command for MIPS based routers. No textual feedback. I know I am bugging you, but if I never asked, I'd probably never find out about this. Thanks a lot!

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

Thank you John. It's all good now, I did it manually like other good members of this board suggested. Doing it through Putty and not getting any results was little confusing for me since I watched this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rG3fVNT18Pc&t=87 At the 1:27 sec mark, guy is...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

Thank you! I did it last night and it worked perfectly the first time I tried it the way you guys suggested. My router is on the newest Merlin firmware now. One thing that still tortures me is why mtd-erase2 nvram command doesn't do anything when I try it in Putty. Yes, I've enabled SSH in my...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

Oh, OK. Much clearer now. So, basically I should proceed with updating firmware from my current one RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_376.49_5 to this new one called RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_376.49_6_cfeupd. Once the update process is done, I should erase nvram and after that, proceed with manual configuration of my...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

Yes, I did that and I also set my unique authentication key as well as I password protected it. Putty asks me for login name and password for my key. Putty connects just fine to my router, but the only weird thing is that after executing mtd-erase2 nvram command, I don't get any confirmation...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

I'll have to take a closer look at the John's restore utility that everyone is praising here. I believe it's great, I was just afraid to dig deeper into this, just to avoid screwing something terribly :( I will do manual nvram erase then, but now when I tried Putty and successfully logged...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

Thank you so much for your help, I appreciate it a lot. Thank you! Would also another method of erasing nvram work (pressing and holding reset button for 5 seconds while router is still on), mentioned by Merlin in another thread? I guess after erasing nvram, good thing would be to power cycle...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

Thank you, but unfortunately I am complete noob and I can't follow what's being talked about in that thread. I am not even sure how would I start erasing nvram, and hoping someone would have step by step tutorial, but wrong... I guess I'd be better off with regular ASUS firmware installed as...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

I can't find anything regarding my first question. Maybe because no one ever asked it in connection to this specific (newest) firmware and if loading settings from the old one would work. Second one, I found couple of answers, but none of them was directly related to RT68U, so I am not sure...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

Thanks for your help! Two more questions: 1. If I perform factory reset, after the firmware update, can I load my configuration file I made with previous firmware to avoid setting everything from scratch, or is there something drastically different in this new firmware vs the old one...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

Hi, I am currently on RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_376.49_5, and if I want to update to RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_376.49_6_cfeupd, is there anything special I need to do except standard firmware update through my router's GUI? Sorry, I know it's moronic question, but I want to be sure I am not badly screwing up...
