    ASUS RT-N66U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.7266

And good to know they also release the GPL at the same time, not sure how complete, and not too bothered since I will wait for the good bits with bugs to be fixed and included in a future Merlin release (Asus have some catching up to do!) https://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN66U/HelpDesk_Download/

    Mysterious in by router

Can't use more than 1492 with PPPoE connections since 8 bytes overhead needs to be added. What sort of bridge mode is the DM200 in ? You cannot full-bridge PPPoA connections, some modems pretend to use some form of half-bridge, I see this is still causing confusion with this modem :-...

    Intermittent wifi with ASUSWRT Merlin

Are you using the higher channel Nos in the 5GHz band? For regulatory compliance the "DFS" Channels do appear to disappear occasionally when 'radar detection" etc are detected.

iptable rules are being overwritten with every reboot. help!

The router runs the firewall script many times during start-up , i wonder if the first one comes unstuck because /opt on a usb is not available until mounted. The intent of using jffs for scripts is that jffs will always be there.

AC68 Rebooted Itself - Nothing in SysLog?

I am not a big fan of regular writes to jffs, but the code nows reads OK, should only copy on a timer (1 minute IIRC), and only if new entries in the log, see https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/blob/master/release/src/router/rc/watchdog.c#L2480 And what if the problem is being unable to...

VLAN for Ubiquiti WiFi guest network on RT-N66U

Just to point out there are two uses of the term "vlan" in Broadcom routers. It is used internally to describe how the external ports on the internal 5-port Ethernet Switch are physically split into LAN/WAN, which is done via nvram params read by the Broadcom Ethernet device driver...

dnsmasq-dhcp stops loggin in syslog with ab-solution 3

Without using AB you can turn off the ACK and REQ spam with the dnsmasq option "quiet-dhcp" added to dnsmasq.conf, I have done this for years...

What would it take to do DPI?

Agree that you should not be able to interfere with SSL comms, without NSA resources and their alleged massive look-up tables of prime factors of big numbers... But do take a look at pixelserv-tls, if the router pretends to be the first tracking host it would see the second url. pixelserv does...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

I assume its a typo in https://github.com/kvic-z/pixelserv-tls/releases filenames - the HZ15 should be HZ12 (I use the Entware package version). For https connections you need to generate the Root CA cert following instructions on https://github.com/kvic-z/pixelserv-tls and start pixelserv-tls...

    Firewall filter not working

Don't network services have to apply to specific ports? I think you should go to "Parental Controls" to control internet access for specific MAC addresses, a bit more secure than IP address. Personally never bothered trying to block tech savvy kids. Even with timed wireless shutdown they...

Can you overclock CPU on Asus RT-N66U?

On the N66 don't you have to check and update cfe version to allow overclocking? https://www.snbforums.com/threads/cfe-bootloader-update.8259/ Definitely not something you want to rush to do! I remember doing this a while ago, but didn't find the 10% overclock worth the potential life...

    RT-N66U 5Ghz

The 2.4 has more range so I find devices tend to lock on to that and keep it too. The lower frequencies in 5GHz work better, the higher ones in the DFS range do tend to occasionally disappear due to "radar detection" - John's fork fixes this by not having them enabled in the old driver!

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

Info already out of date - I just got a commit message from github! kvic has already updated to separate the defaults! https://github.com/kvic-z/pixelserv-tls/blob/23b2fa49ecbb0a1062aa01c70ac7348cdfb1d608/pixelserv.c#L335

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

While "-k" only exists in this fork the original behaviour has been continued - default ports for both http and https are only applied if no ports defined on the command line, agree description a bit misleading...

Feature request - DHCP reservations from csv file

Sorry, maybe I was thinking of Tomato where the entries do go in the conf file, I recall you can also define multiple macs to the same Ip, for example when a laptop can have both wireless or wired connections with same IP - not at same time. You could do this with asuswrt-merlin, but may lose...

Feature request - DHCP reservations from csv file

You could also just use a custom dnsmasq conf add-on file - which is where the dhcp reservations end up?

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

I remember a problem in the past with bsd and Linux socket options, don't think we bother with tweaking linger2 any more https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/26786/

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.64 Beta is now available

https certs changing not specific to this version. There is a way to save them to nvram and restore after firmware change and factory default, so you can get green padlock in your favourite browser. I'm sure there is a thread here, but here is a link which should give a clue of the nvram vars...

Lot of TCP TIME_WAIT's shown on Netstat tied to my browers session on admin interface

Unfortunately the multiple connections are a feature of the Asus web interface, presumably new connections are made for lots of different items on screen. It shouldn't be an issue however, the router ends of the connected sockets go through a tcp handling state machine which means they spend a...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

You mean I don't need the "sed"? I use the dnsmasq domain block format #!/bin/sh CNF=/mnt/usb4gb/adblock.conf WHL=/mnt/usb4gb/whitelist ADS="http://pgl.yoyo.org/adservers/serverlist.php?hostformat=dnsmasq&showintro=0&mimetype=plaintext" AIP="192.168.66.254" # changes 127.0.0.1 to this globally...
