BE98 Pro vs ASUS WiFi Gaming Router (RT-AC5300) - Tri-Band Gigabit Wireless Internet Router

I did not ask about the value for a specific person. You have to pay for what something can do, not what the value is to you. Now you can say it has no value to you or it's not worth the price to you. Overpriced would mean it cost more than it should for what it can do. A Corvette is 100k, but...

BE98 Pro vs ASUS WiFi Gaming Router (RT-AC5300) - Tri-Band Gigabit Wireless Internet Router

How much you think it should cost? Wi-Fi 6E devices are expensive too, and this one has 4 bands and is a new standard. Pretty sure I've seen both Merlin and Dong say there's nothing coming in wifi 7 that these devices don't already have. It's not like past situations where updated hardware will...

    BQ16 Pro Quad Band

You don't think the 4th band has a use case for people with wireless backhaul? 4 bands seems to make the most sense for mesh devices to me because most people aren't going to plug them in to use an ethernet backhaul. Seems like you could have a dedicated backhaul this way but still use the other...

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

That makes sense. I sure can't tell any difference between the two. I feel like 6ghz is superior because it's covering the same but I'm not dealing with interference.

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

Yeah I worried about the short range when I first got my AXE-11000s because I kept reading it in reviews, but honestly it's been just as good as 5ghz was when I had my AX-11000s. It took 4 of those to cover my house too just because of how it's built. I gradually worked my way up from 2 units...

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

I guess I was also thinking about the fact that there's an extra 6ghz band which will probably get more use in the future. I use it for my backhaul and get full gigabit speeds at each node right now. However, as more 6ghz devices come out, I'd have to share that backhaul bandwidth on the BE96U...

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

This makes a lot of sense and was the reason I went ahead and bought a set of routers. I currently have the BE96U, well 4 of them actually. They replaced my AXE-11000s. I utilize them as a mesh. However, seeing that BE98 Pro is only $100 more, it seems that maybe I should return them and go with...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

    Glad it worked!

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

Cool. Did it! I provided feedback with the original bug as well. Hopefully they'll get it together or at least stop forcing updates to buggy firmware. If you wanna force me to update, at least let it be something well tested.

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

So I found a fix for me. I enabled guest network pro. I set up a guest network that had a password and no scheduling. I enabled intranet access and set it up as 2.4ghz/5ghz. My intent was to connect devices to this. However, after the automatic reboot upon applying guest settings, my devices all...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

See, I thought about doing the smart connect thing and seeing if it would work. Glad to know it's a viable workaround. I didn't try it because I really just didn't feel like reconfiguring all my smart home devices that know the network with 5g in the name, especially since I didn't know for sure...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

I did. Probably have done that about 4 times now. I'm so frustrated with them. If they just wouldn't force updates my network would be functioning perfectly. I've never had better speeds than I did on the initial firmware. Essentially was the same as if I had an ethernet backhaul.

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

Glad you got it working. My 5ghz bug from above is still present. Tried factory resetting all units and everything. Hope a new firmware comes out soon, cause this current one is TRASH. Tired of rolling back

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

Yep, it does. I had Orbi prior to Asus too. I believe I used telnet to keep it from updating at one point but had that issue as well. I gave that to my parents and switched to Asus. This is my 3rd set of Asus routers. AX11000->AXE11000->BE96U. But yes, AXE1100 and BE96U do it now. There's...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

Anybody having issues with this new firmware and 5ghz? I have 4 of these. 1 as an aimesh router and the other 3 as nodes. I use wireless backhaul because my house is huge and I live in a small town where no one can install ethernet. Had it attempted, but dude couldn't do it because of the...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 6 models

I don't know about the tablet but a lot of TCL/Roku tvs do not support DFS channels. The newest ones might, but I'm not sure. I had the same problem and looked it up and my tv doesn't support those channels so it couldn't find the 5ghz network.

    AXE11000 New Firmware

If you go back, I'd bet it will auto update you. I was having to revert it every day. I never self inflicted it. There's not a Merlin built on just the most recent stable one. So I had the same issues with all the newest Merlin FW on my device. I'm using an old one now, but it's still not...

    AXE11000 New Firmware

It auto updates you from it so there's no point. That was the last time mine was stable. It's ridiculous.

I'm starting to think we're the testers at this point.

    AXE11000 New Firmware

This was my problem. I changed to Merlin, but the newest version has 21224 integrated. It ran great for like 12 hours then same issues I had with 21224 from Asus. Rolled back one version of Merlin and it's been decent since. Not quite as great as 20499 ASUS was (one mesh connects to the router...
