Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

+1! Actually it's more a useless than a useful feature. At least at speeds over 500mbps it's mostly useless on most if not all models.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

I also have a GT-AC5300 but my node it's a RT-AX88U. I use and need to use "Ethernet Backhaul Mode" to release the 2nd 5GHz radio from GT. I don't have a problem with attaching clients to node. I had this problem in first couple of releases when node would not accept any wireless client. But...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

OE, When this beta started I was loosing a specific device (that uses a cheap ECP chipset). When that device was disappearing from WiFi the only option to force it to reconnect was to power it on while unplugged from power (to get rid of bad mood and stuff ). It sounds stupid and it is, but I've...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

My Virgin Media Ireland modem has a modem management IP 192.168.101.1. Nothing looks wrong here. BUT! As an example, my ISP modem has an IP address from 192.168.101.x range. I'm with Virgin Media in Ireland. Is the same issue happens when you're connecting your IOT devices to Guest2?

    GT-AX11000 & RT-AX92U 5GHz-1 Channel Issue

Yes, that was the case even on first AiMesh. A node 5GHz radio will follow second 5GHz radio of a 3 band node. That if node is 2 band model. A 3 band model node will follow both 5GHz channels. I know it's not intuitive! In AiMesh 1 the second 5GHz radio could not be even a part of SmartConnect...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

First and last AFAIK. One of the first attempts to build something by a Jonathan that later got to build great stuffs, but not in technology (and made great cash). Let's move away from that unfortunate RFC. It was obsolete quite soon by a good RFC (by almost the same team). Without using any...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

It sounds a bit as a duplicate subnet. What's the ip address you're receiving on guest subnet? Are you using that subnet anywhere else? I would investigate if that subnet is not used somehow by the ISP modem. What's the ip address your router receives from ISP? Are you using IPv6 too? Eventually...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

Please don't get offended! It's not my purpose! I learned networking before Wikipedia and full cone NAT was not a term. I'm too old!

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

Oh man, this type of language kills me! Who invented new words for something that simple and old? NAT was invented for 1:1 and 1:many. Simple, intuitive naming. Why invent "full con NAT"? I know I'm offtopic, but come on...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

It would be interesting a topic with people sharing real life results with AX clients. I'm looking for a while for a good laptop with an AX adapter. I love so much my X1 Carbon size and weight, I would definitely consider something the same format with AX WiFi.

    Wireless Printing

I think your ISP router broadcasts an SSID with the same name as your Asus. I'm afraid there's no easy way to explain it and guide you on what you're doing wrong. What's the ip address Asus shows on WAN interface? It's too much to ask you to install an WiFi analyser on an Android phone or a...

Slow WiFi Speeds for Smart TV -- Router Setting or Bad TV ?

Unless you're seeing a problem (like Netflix with Atmos chocking), I would say you're overthinking the problem here! My Sony TV is wired to the router, they are 50cm apart and link is doing "only" 100mbps. That "only" has no problems in serving Netflix 4k with Atmos. Even on a busy wireless...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

This discussion around price vs expectations is getting old. Whomever wants to try this beta can do it. For users looking for a better AiMesh it's delivering! Whomever is not willing have no other option than to wait patiently. 386 will be moved to official release sooner than later for all...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

With all the respect to all contributors to this beta, if I would be a vendor I would say my product is ready for market! Just use an open mind and look and the posts in that past 2 weeks!

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

AX-3000 cannot be AiMesh Node. It's just an AP. You can't add another vendor to an AiMesh. So you are confusing the terms here. Big time! There's no concept of binding to a node when you don't have an AiMesh. So you're blaming Asus for no reason. There is nothing they can do for you. They can...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

What router models and what is the exact release you are running? Latest beta release is barely a week old and it still runs on my setup.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

+1 for Media Server and Network Share default to be off by default! I found it minutes earlier and than I saw your post. I get it it would make life easier for most users, but it's an annoyance for people that don't need that. I would call it borderline a security risk! If I don't enable a...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

I can only but envy you! With my hardware setup and 384 I had to schedule an automated reboot on a weekly basis! For the first few 386 beta I had to schedule a reboot every ~48h. 7 was way better and 8 is current status. 386 allowed me to use all radios on my GT-AC5300 so only because of that...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

You could see it like that. Or you can see the amount of fixes they implemented as result of the feedback received during this beta. My experience: latest release is the first one even that brings me to 2 weeks uptime. A rare occurrence since I bought GT-AC5300 and RT-AX88U as companion. Maybe...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

And your question is? You can use ethernet ports on node since the AiMesh beta days. You can use usb port(s) on nodes. On this aspect I'm not sure that applies to any models, but the 386 release should enable USB ports on node for a HDD or usb connected NASs. Not the ideal solution, but it...
