can not remove file from either /tmp/home/root or /jffs

The output of the read script would be null terminated without a [LF] or [LF][CR] The editer is probably the difference then. I edit using vi natively on the router itself. This saves me the steps of moving files back and forth between 2 boxes. I don't use notepad2-mod. If I'm creating a file...

can not remove file from either /tmp/home/root or /jffs

    Being a fan of loop scripts, I use similar to these making nvram settings more human readable and easier to manipulate. a="a" ; n=2 ; list=$(nvram get dhcp_staticlist) until [ "$a" == "" ] ; do a=`echo $list | cut -f$n -d"<"` ; n=$(($n+1)) ; [ "$a" == "" ] && break ; echo "<$a"; done >...

    Guest network for wired devices

I had forgotten about this . A year or so back , my daughter had a little NanoPi Box she was convinced she needed to have hooked up to get a monthly check. But she didn't really have a spare ethernet connection. She was wanting a bigger router or some way to make it work for her. Before booting...

Coax to Ethernet adapters - running into probs adding the 3rd, splitter?

I don't have or use mocha extenders . I have had several 75 ohm splitters apart though. And they are not all the same, nor are they all equal. Some will pass DC to power a device at the other end . Some only pass power to one port. Others won't pass power regardless of the port. Some are a...

Coax to Ethernet adapters - running into probs adding the 3rd, splitter?

He might have just lucked out with the ones he bought. They might or might not be transformer coupled. A good place to start might be to go back to that thread and ask him where he bought the splitter/combiners he's using.

RP-AC55 Access Point handed out IP addresses?

You are welcome. It wasn't a problem for me to try breaking mine. Then noting the results here in hopes you (or someone later found this and) benefited from it, also. Glad Tidings and Happy New Year .

RP-AC55 Access Point handed out IP addresses?

If you wanted to make it easier you could tranfer the output of the nvram get dhcp_staticlist from your main router to each of your repeaters and enable dhcp_static on them as well. If you aren't comfortable working at a command line or mucking about with your nvram settings by hand then I...

RP-AC55 Access Point handed out IP addresses?

It is there . It just isn't advertized . http://repeater.asus.com/Advanced_DHCP_Content.asp 40-50 places versus 3 places. I would most definitely go with the 3 places. or just 1 and migrate those settings to 2 more places.

Ability to edit host file on firmware

Merlin firmware has this capability already builtin, plus so much more. For stock firmware I have a usb stick in mine and has my fixups for dns filtering & blackholing that run at boot with script_usbmount . It runs in a delayed loop and every time it recognized a change to /etc/dnsmasq.conf...

RP-AC55 Access Point handed out IP addresses?

You are Welcome. Possibly instead of fighting that behavior from them, you might embrace it and also hand set your static IP's up in the repeaters, with a short lease time. So the next time things go down or are brought down , they will happily give out short leases correctly till the...

RP-AC55 Access Point handed out IP addresses?

A couple of other things it doesn't do now. The repeater isn't reporting to the main router what it's lan hostname is or how many clients are connecting through it. Devices that used to show up in the Network Map aren't there now and the repeater isn't identified as an RP-AC55 anylonger. Just by...

RP-AC55 Access Point handed out IP addresses?

Or maintained power to the RT-AC5300 and gateway during the blackout with a UPS. When the firmware for AI-Mesh 2.0 becomes available for them the wired nodes are supposed to stop this. In the meanwhile I was curious about this on mine. So I tried a few things. I was poking around in the nvram...

    RT-AC88U - AP Isolation

My sons Google Home Mini wouldn't work when double NAT'ed. It didn't give any errors. It just couldn't connect to "home" that way. His router was behind the dsl provided gateway which provides a NAT connection and then his router was doing network address translation for everything behind it...

    Asus rt-n18u connection /load times

I have sort of been waiting for someone else to say this. But , . Have you done a factory reset on the RT-N66U AND the RT-N18U ? And taken the switch out as suggested earlier ? Then configured either one of your ASUS routers from scratch and only enough to check your connection, speed...

    Asus rt-n18u connection /load times

It was nearly a year from the time it was stolen till it "showed up" again. It was locked and a google reset was done minutes after realizing it was gone. It was confirmed to be my sons phone with randomized mac enabled. But , at 3 AM, I did go looking for it or someone where they shouldn't have...

    Asus rt-n18u connection /load times

It doesn't seem to be 'revolving' around any certain set of preconfigured macs defined in the device. The prefix numbers don't turn up anything in an OUI search either. While my experience with random MACs on phones is limited, it is what I have noticed in the last year or so. If his wife's...

    Asus rt-n18u connection /load times

Yes, My motorola G7 does, as well as the one gone missing and my sons Galaxys. "Use Random M.A.C." is on by default when connecting to WiFi networks.

    Asus rt-n18u connection /load times

You might be getting an IP address conflict. Have you checked both phones to see if they are both using different random MAC address ? I wouldn't have thought of this except a phone that was stolen from me kept turning up in my connections log. It turned out my son's phone was set to use a...

    Asus rt-n18u connection /load times

That benchmark was only half way done. After it finished , In the Conclusions tab , did it show that your default DNS name servers were 100% reliable ? Did it offer any suggestions ?

    Asus rt-n18u connection /load times

It isn't my application/program but I do use it myself and recommend it to others. or even to see if they are working ? A dead nameserver or if it is typed in wrong can cause the problems you describe. You might even try using different DNS nameservers that you can reach or switch the order...
