    I have the AX86 but need just a little more range. Who I be better off with just another lower end router or something like the ZenWIFI XD4? Thinking if I got the XD4's I could give one to my in laws that have the AX3000 already.

    Any suggestions for the Smart Connect Rules? I had it adjusted before but now it's default. I was having trouble in the far end of the house my phone will drop connection. When it reconnects look at the devices on the router my phone would still be on 5 ghz and I would think it should be on 2.4...

    New RT-AX86U

    I've used your firmware for ever with my old AC87. Mostly because I found it more stable then the official version. I upgraded to the newest ASUS version now and will see how it goes for awhile.

    Just upgraded from my RT-AC87U to this new RT-AX86U. It wants to update the firmware. Current Version : 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a The latest version : 3.0.0.4.386_45934-gb23bdac Should I upgrade to the latest firmware or a different version? Stay with Asus or switch right to Merlin? Thanks

    Yeah he's running the R8000 right now without any problems. I see now Best Buy has the R8000 for $200 and the P for $300.

    I messed up

    My AC87 was working great. Then I turned on the 5ghz to use on my NVIDIA Shield because it said my connection was weak. I was instantly having trouble with my cell phone (Samsung Note 8) playing online games. So disabled the 5ghz band again but it's still not working right. I've rebooted it...

    I see lots of lag problems when there's no cooling fan under my 87U. For the past year I've had a laptop cooler but the fan bearing in that went last week.

    I'm in the same boat. My 87 is having issues. Trying the latest Merlin Beta right now. Now I'm just figure out if I want another traditional router or something like the Netgear Orbi RBK50 (2 pack)
