    I think I'm going to try a DD-WRT build. Not sure what version yet. So if you have one that's rock solid let me know. I don't use any USB/Printer connections. Printer is ran off one of the Ethernet cables on the router.

    I've had good luck with the new beta. Might be how I did the update and clear. I used the ASUS restore (static IP) software to update. Then it was all done I "Cleared the NVRAM" via turning the power off (power button) holding WPS button and power on. Keep holding WPS button until power light...

    I've been using it for over 24 hrs now. Just in the wifi part I've had no problems. Seems to be much better in the range then the last two firmware updates I've tried. I did try to chance the time zone and it wouldn't let me. I haven't tried much else. I don't even have my USB drive hooked up yet.

    Thanks I'll check them out. But my original firmware said 3.0.0.4.376_1311. Also I'm reading that even going back in firmware doesn't return your signal power?

    My 87R is definitely not as powerful after updating from the original firmware. I can't even find the original firmware anywhere.

    I want my old firmware back. I installed Asuswrt-Merlin - build 376.48_1 (07-Nov-2014) and now the range isn't as good for streaming and I see times of lag.

    I took it back and got a RT-AC87R. Only problem I see so far is the Playstation Network isn't working on my PS4.

    Just got a RT-AC87R

    I just bought and setup a RT-AC87R. I had a Linksys E4200V2 that never performed like I thought it should. Last week a bought a RT-N66R, but it kept dieing. I have not updated the firmware yet. I'm going to wait and see if I have any trouble.

    So I got one of these from BB last Wednesday. Setup went OK. But then the router would just disappear. no wireless or lan seen. All the lights were still showing it was working. So my buddy linked me a Merlin firmware. I did the latest one and left for work. Wife came home and nothing worked...
