AX88U loses Internet connection every couple of weeks

In the meantime I replaced my AX88 with an AX86 and so far everything seems to be stable. The only conclusion I can draw is that there is something wrong with the AX88 under certain conditions. I don't believe my AX88 suddenly developed a defect but rather that there is a systematic problem. I...

RT AC68U can't achieve more than 600Mbps on latest firmware

Did you run the SpeedTest app, not in the browser!, from a PC connected via Ethernet? Try also different servers. It depends very much on the server and the time of day.

    Microsoft Teams connection drops

I have been using Teams, with split-tunneling, on an RT-AC68U with 386.2_4 and CTF + FA enabled without any problems. If your company supports it try running Teams without VPN (or split-tunneling).

WAN_Connection: ISP's DHCP did not function properly.

The documentation is wrong. It's 12 requests per minute, one every 5 seconds. This means it's 0.2Hz.

    AX86U losing Wan connection

I am glad you found a setting that works with your ISP. Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the WAN connection is dropped. Changing the DHCP frequency might work for some when the ISP has an unusual DHCP behavior but it does not help in many other situations such as most of the threads you...

    The mystery of online gaming.

There might not be a causal relationship. It's more likely that the Internet service fluctuates and you attribute improvements to changing the DNS service. What kind of ISP do you have?

    WAN was exceptionally disconnected

I suspect the switch from 100Mbit/s to 1Gbit/s on the WAN side played a role because this was really the only thing, besides turning off QoS to achieve the full throughput, that changed when the drops started for me.

    WAN was exceptionally disconnected

This is really interesting. I do use AiMesh. I would try this but I sent in my AX88U to Asus for repair. However, I had been running the AX88U with AC68U as an AiMesh node for around eight months on 384.19 without any problems. WAN drops started when my Internet service was upgraded from 100 to...

    Repeated disconnects

I am trying to unpack your post: problem with AiMesh (wireless or Ethernet backhaul?) connecting WAN (Internet) disconnects for the last one year behind a Xfinity modem (old=black, new=white) tried all three AX88U as (main) router but still experience the WAN disconnects the router needs to be...

    Repeated disconnects

Unfortunately, even with the stock firmware there were WAN drops. The router went back to Asus for warranty repair. Currently running my old RT-AC68U with Merlin 386.2_4.

    WAN was exceptionally disconnected

In the meantime I experimented with some other configurations. I got a MikroTik router and connected it to the ONT and put my Asus RT-AX88U in a double NAT configuration behind it. Surprisingly, my Asus router still went down (ISP's DHCP did not function properly) while the MikroTik still had...

    Repeated disconnects

I also bought my AX88 to use Merlin. However since my ISP upgraded me to gig one and a half month ago, I have been trying to troubleshoot my very intermittent WAN disconnects. I am at the point where I put the latest stock firmware on my router and see if these disconnects still happen...

    Repeated disconnects

I would recommend a systematic troubleshooting: Factory reset the router Install the latest stock firmware Do not restore any previously saved configuration, configure manually! connect the router to the WAN connect only one client, preferably via Ethernet See how this goes If everything works...

    Repeated disconnects

I have similar WAN disconnects with my RT-AX88U about every 1 to 5 days. I think it's firmware-related and also depends on the ISP. Have you tried the latest stock firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42820? In the previous version 42819, Asus claimed to have fixed some WAN connection issues. I am going to try...

For how long have you not had any WAN drops?

AX88U loses Internet connection every couple of weeks

I have exactly the same problem with my RT-AX88U of losing the WAN connection intermittently. Only a reboot of the router resolves this. However, my router worked flawlessly from August 2020 until a month ago when my ISP upgraded me to gigabit service. Then these intermittent drops started to...

Router not getting internet back after WAN drop

Unfortunately, just restarting the WAN interface does not work for me. I don't know why. Can you elaborate on the udhcpc bug? I did a tcpdump trace and cannot find any fault at least in my case.

Interesting! Here is more background. Be careful with DTIM if you use WiFi Calling, see last comment in above link.

Router not getting internet back after WAN drop

My ISP uses DHCP for the WAN. I coudn't find any problems with the DHCP implementation. I tried all of different frequency options and ran a packet trace. I documented the results here. I tried ChkWAN.sh and it is fantastic:) However, rebooting is very disruptive.
