What’s the best build for AX88U

I've been using 384.14 for some time on my plain AX88U. As stated in multiple posts Wifi signal was lower than pervious versions. Did upgrade to latest Alpha and I'll have to admit that Wifi is back to prvious strenth, 5Ghz seems to be even stronger than ever before. Running smooth on my...

Finally found time to upgrade my AX88U to latest 384.15 Alpha - running like an oiled machine since then :-) Great job!

[384.15_Alpha - builds] Testing all variants.

WOW - maybe I should take this step too an upgrade to 384.15 given the current hassle with 384.14 .... :-)

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Thanks Merlin - but this would be only relevant if I had the option to disable Agile Multiband in 384.14 - which does not exist for me and others. Therefore the only option seems to either downgrade to 384.13 or to upgrade to 384.15-Alpha ...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

I did try this multiple times, incl. reboot, factory reset and re-config from scratch - the selection box does not appear for me under 384.14. I assume skeal is correct assuming this is tied to the 38.15 Aplpha? Or do you see this selection option under 384.14 too?

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Thanks again skeal. Interestingly enough I do not have this selector box / button Could this be tied to regional version of the SW? As my profile states I am in EMEA/Germany ...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

You mean the setting "802.11ax / Wi-Fi 6 mode" ? It is set to disabled for me on 2.4 and 5 - nevertheless still can't disable PMF

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

@ skeal - thanks for your lightning fast response - if PMF is the or one issue needs to be figured. Therefore the intent to isolate. So your code has to be injected via SSH I assume?

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Thanks Skeal - before doing so is this something you'd recommend? Where to enter the code - command line? Can it be reversed?

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

I can confirm the described behaviour on my AC86U - as soon as I enable PMF bandwidth is gone. Therefore I wanted to disable the same on the AX88U too, but as said not working under 384.14 - maybe there is a smart cheat to get it manually disabled?

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Just figured that Wireless - Protected Management Frames - cannot be disabled under 384.14 for both bands on my AX88U. It is working though on my AC86U on 384.13. Any recommendation or ideas of impact?

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Thanks for the info - currently on the road but will check later on. As 384.13 was released in July it is very likely the version to be different ...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Well - I did not say for certain. Was just an assumption - any other competent and firm explanation of the results I've seeing is more than welcome - especially since nothing than the FW changed ...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 (and 384.13_2) are now available

Based on my tests yesterday I did on my AX88U I can confirm that 384.14 is weaker on 2.4Ghz compared to 384.13, the reverse applies for 5 Ghz. Looks like embedded drivers have changed. I went back to 384.13 for the time being ....

    WLAN AX88U vs. AC86U

    WLAN AX88U vs. AC86U

Downgraded to 384.13 on the AX88U - I can confirm changes to signial on 2.4 Ghz (increease) and 5Ghz (decrease). Config also lost client information for some devices - so looks to me like significant changes in between versions. Will monitor next couple of days how we are doing with regards to...
