    N66U - Transmission Power Max on 374.43 and 374.36b

I am no expert when it comes to legal power output on home routers but you might be interested in this thread. Although the download link is down till hggomes post his source code. Read thread to understand why. http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=21489

    N66U - Transmission Power Max on 374.43 and 374.36b

You should think about upgrading your firmware to at least John's fork. Your current firmware is full of bugs and security issues. Running 500 mw with antennas that have 3-5 db gain such as on the N66U would be illegal in the US.

Will 376 firmware range/speed ever catch up to 374?

Great question all i can say is i doubt it. The 376 and above seem to have capped routers at 80 mw max. Thats why i hope John keeps doing what he is doing with his fork bulds. With Johns fork i can cover my whole house with no issues the newer 376 and that is no longer the case in fact my roku...

    Merlin 378.50 ?

I see from reading here > https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/blob/master/README-merlin.txt That this future release has a lot of fixes and changes. My question will it include the CFE boot loader update for the 68U (P) ?

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

I got a nice tax refund coming this year and i was considering buying the 87U but now after reading this thread i am really having second thoughts and may just pick up the 68P and be done with it. I am looking for a stable router that routes not something that seems to be full of bugs and...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I know firmware developers hate this question but any idea on a V7 final release ? :) Love this firmware as it has brought my N66U back to life..

    AC56U or AC86U (or P)?

Well not a AC5000 but the next best thing. You know you want one of these beasts sitting in your living room. :D http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S9SGNNS/?tag=snbforums-20

    AC56U or AC86U (or P)?

I just wanted to add. I have owned many routers from all the popular manufactures and one thing i know for a fact is having external antennas rather then built in is a huge plus (+) ! :D

    AC56U or AC86U (or P)?

I know you said you have a Amazon card but if you have cash Best Buy stores have the AC68P.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

When i had the AC68U with 2.4 Ghz disabled it ran at 73 C about 80 with both bands enabled. Radio temps always stayed in the low 50's. 88 seems hot but i believe Merlin stated one time that anything above 90C is getting HOT. Maybe you got one of those units they did not put enough heat sink...
