[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

These are non-public personal data so unfortunately I can't do unencrypted transfers. I think my big surprise is from the difference between the WAN and LAN bandwidth when using the same encrypted mechanism (SCP) on the same device: 270KB/s vs 1.5MB/s. That is what makes me wonder if there is...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Not sure if it is a fork issue, Asus issue or a config issue from my end, but I just realized writes to mounted a USB drive over SCP is fairly slow, specially when using SCP from WAN. For SCP write of large files to the USB drive from the LAN, I get about 1.2-1.5MB/s. For SCP from WAN I get...

Changing a MyBook usb3 drive from NTFS to ext3 using RT-N66U

For anyone with this problem, with fdisk issues: If it is fdisk: "WARNING: rereading partition table failed, kernel still uses old table: Invalid argument", you might be pointing fdisk to the partition instead of the device. For example for /dev/sdc, don't run fdisk like "fdisk /dev/sdc1", run...

Do you have entware Openvpn working on the latest build of the fork running on N16? Let me know. My entware Openvpn setup broke on one of the prior builds and I haven't updated since. Would be good to know if it is working now.

Hi! I need firmware for Asus RT-N16 3.0.0.4.220

Why do you want to go back to 3.0.0.4.220 ? That version is riddled with security vulnerabilities.

    mod: 380.58.2_HGG-FINAL released

I got all excited about "RT-N16 NVRAM upgrade to 64KB & RT-N16 OpenVPN support" and then saw that it got reverted :(

    [Beta] RT-N16 Firmware version 9.0.0.4.380.2695

Not sure if it is in this build or they final version, but part of the reason Asus is doing updates is to comply with FCC's new requirement for locking down transmit powers on routers.

    RT-N16 Limiting wired speed?

Can you check to see if they enable OpenVPN on this new build by any chance?

It is part of Entware-ng, so you may want to just follow entware-ng's installation guide and then install the package. Update: I think the installation guide that you need for this fork is actually at https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Entware

You are correct. I just tried it with tun0 and it crashed again. Could this be because of the dns service on the router? This is why I am suspicious: I had Pandora open this last time that it crashed, and after the router crashed I refreshed the page in Chrome and got: This site can’t be...

I am running into an issue with OpenVPN on RT-N16 which seems to have been surfaced after updating from release 15 to 17. Prior to doing the update, I had OpenVPN installed using Entware on a USB stick, with start through post-mount script on JFFS and it was working. On RT-N16, native OpenVPN...

I think John is about to release V17, it might be worth skipping V16E1 for V17 at this point.

Sounds like a hardware, not software issue. How long have you had the router?

It might be too much to ask, but it would be awesome if the current community devs start to blog , wikify, or youtube cast on what they find and do. The reason I say this is we (others) can gradually read up and learn by watching your steps and potentially start to contribute to help you out :)

Problem using router as master browser

FYI, in case if you are having the "Unable to find the Domain Master Browser name xxxx<1b>" issue: it looks like that I have been able to fix it on my router by forcing Samba to be Master Browser through the UI. Look for the option under "USB Application - Network Place(Samba) Share / Cloud Disk"
